Hello gorgeous ladies,

I have a question for you, have you ever applied “quick drying wall paint” to your lips? No?? Well, I have!! Want to see how that looks? Do not forget to check the lip swatches in this post!! Let’s get straight into reviewing this fairly newly launched paint…..oopss I means (so-called) lip gloss by LA Girl – Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss in “Fantasy.”
LA Girl Matte Fantasy Flat Finish Pigment Gloss

Claim/Product Description:
Introducing our hottest new lip product – Matte Pigment Gloss. These 16 bold shades provide rich, intense color in a flat finish for all day wear. The long-wearing formula goes on as a high pigmented liquid and dries to a flat matte finish. Leaving lips colored in gorgeous velvety perfection that last and lasts.

Ingredients lip gloss

My Experience with LA Girl Matte Fantasy Flat Finish Pigment Gloss:

Packaging: This lip gloss comes in a regular lip gloss packaging, the only difference being that these have a stout tube. The body is made of plastic and the cap has a matte finish to it. The tube itself is see through so the actual lip product colour is visible through the packaging. It contains 5 grams of product, but gives an illusion of containing more product as the tube is thick. The LA Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss has a flat and stiff applicator with a rounded tip which does not adjust to the shape of the lips while gliding on the lips. This kind of tip is the most difficult to work with!
Lip gloss tube

Color and Pigmentation: The colour in the tube is a gorgeous pinky-n*de colour which looks so flattering! Once applied to the lips, it turns out be a much lighter colour as if it is mixed with white paint and dries down like paint too!! That being said, the pigmentation of this bad boy is super nice. After all, wall paints go opaque in just one swipe, don’t they?
Lip gloss wand

Texture: Let’s talk about the biggest negative about this lip gloss – the formulation! I really don’t know what LA Girl was thinking when they created such a formula for a lip product! Did they even test these out on some real ladies before they launched them? The formula is neither too runny, nor too thick. The consistency feels like a whipped mousse which makes it easy to apply on the lips.
Lip gloss tube and wand

It glides on the lips nicely while it is wet and can be built upon, but it does get a lot more tacky and heavy on the lips as you build it. When this dries on the lips, it’s a disaster!! It gets into each and every line of the lips and emphasizes them so much. No amount of lip balm or exfoliation will ever help! By the way, who must have thought about calling this dud a “lip gloss?” It is anything but a lip gloss!
Shade details

Longevity: Just like paint never fades away off the wall, this baby also does not go anywhere after applying! I know I sound like a broken record, but this is the best way I can explain this. You need straight up oil to get rid of this from your delicate lips. If you down a ton of oily pakoras, it may fade a bit from the center of the lips, but otherwise, it doesn’t budge whatsoever!
Swatch on hands

Pros of LA Girl Matte Fantasy Flat Finish Pigment Gloss:

  • Color-coded packaging.
  • Good color payoff.
  • Does not budge whatsoever!
  • Easily available online and in drugstores.

Cons of LA Girl Matte Fantasy Flat Finish Pigment Gloss:

  • Lip gloss? Are you serious, LA Girl?
  • Terrible shade.
  • Feels more like a lip paint.
  • Feels disgustingly heavy and uncomfortable on the lips.
  • Dries out the lips like crazy.
  • Settles into every little crevice of the lips.
  • Accentuates the dryness of chapped lips.
  • Terribly difficult to remove.
  • Not available in India (this should actually be a good thing!)

IMBB Rating:
Can I give it a negative marking?

Would I Recommend/Repurchase LA Girl Matte Fantasy Flat Finish Pigment Gloss?
No No No!!! It’s my humble request to everyone, to steer clear of this lip paint. The shade range is good and you might get tempted to try some shades, but these things are terrible! No one needs such a lip product in their life. This is going back to the store! The best thing about purchasing makeup abroad is that you don’t have to put with the nonsense of a dud product! It can be returned!

  1. I loved the way you described the formula XD ‘Quick drying wall paint’ lol XD But this flat matte finish is very in right now in matte colours.

    1. Totally agree with you Arja 🙂 But the market is flooded with matte liquid lippies that are totally matte and available in all fun colours, while comfortable to wear….This one is a total miss for me 😉
