La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Dry Touch Gel-Cream Anti-Shine Review

Hello dear ladies!

Today I am going to review the most important skin care product – sunscreen. I always try to include sunscreen in my regular skincare routine, but somehow I always find excuse to skip it. I know sunscreens have proven to be effective against aging and beneficial for our skin. But, the texture of sunscreens that I have used in past and my combination-oily skin are responsible for these excuses. Finally I have found a good sunscreen, keep reading to know more about it.

My Experience with La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Dry Touch Gel-Cream Anti-Shine:

Packaging:
It comes in a sleek, sturdy and opaque white squeeze tube packaging. The lid closes tight, with no spillage; excellent for carrying in purse and while travelling.

Consistency:
The sunscreen has a liquidy creamy texture and is white in color, but not runny. Generally I use a coin size amount and spread with figures on my face and neck 15-20 minutes before going out. Initially upon application, it gets absorbed within minutes without any white cast, but leaves some shine over the face. It takes 5-8 minutes to settle it down and for the shine to completely disappear from my face. No stickiness or greasiness is left behind. It doesn’t settle to a completely matte finish, but gives a skin-like finish. I prefer applying it over my daily oil-free moisturizer.

Efficacy:
I had purchased it for my tour, to prevent tanning as we used to stay out for hours during vacation. And it truly served my purpose – no tanning at all. It doesn’t make my face oily overtime, my makeup stays put for good amount of time. It has become my new go-to sunscreen after that. It doesn’t clog my pores and doesn’t cause any breakouts. Ladies with very oily skin might find it heavy or shiny. One tube will last you about 2 months with regular usage.

It is advised that if you have very oily skin and every sunscreen makes you feel heavy and oily, try to use lower SPF like at least SPF 30 in Indian weather and reapply it frequently. Higher the SPF, more heavy the formula might be.

Fragrance:
It is not totally fragrance free. It has got some chemically smell, which is mild and disappears soon after application.
