About The Product:
An extremely lightweight, silky, sheer setting powder that leaves skin with a flawless finish.
What it does:
Infused with the finest French “cashmere talc,” this non-dusty, non-drying translucent powder sets makeup and creates a flawless finish. A unique light-reflecting ingredient creates a soft-focus appearance that smoothes away fine lines and imperfections as it sets your makeup. The translucent shade looks and feels natural on all skintones, and creates a flawless finish. Use it to add a velvety finish to any makeup or for a bit of color and coverage when foundation is not worn.
What else you need to know:
Only the 0.33 oz size Translucent Loose Setting Powder comes with a puff. This oil-free, noncomedogenic product looks natural, never caking or creasing.
Price: $23 (travel size), $37 full size
My Experience with Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder:
Packaging: This product comes in loose powder form in a small container. The powder is meant to be taken out, little bit in the cap and used with a brush. This type of packaging isn’t really travel-friendly as the loose powder can make a huge mess.
The powder itself is very smooth and silky. It is not as finely milled as most other setting powders, but it still performs equally well if not better. It does a great job at setting makeup. I particularly love it to set my under eye concealer which is often the oiliest area on my face and it does a fantastic job of keeping the oil at bay. For the rest of my face, which is most often of the dry side, I find that this powder never emphasizes dry patches or fine lines or pores. It sets makeup without looking too powdery or feeling chalky. The trick to use ot for dry skin is to use sparingly and use a brush, and not the puff to give the lightest application.
The powder is called transparent but it does have little bit beige tone to it ;unlike HD white powders which look horrible in flash photography this powder will not let the same thing happen. It makes the makeup look smooth and flawless. It does cake up on the face.
The travel-size does come with a mini velour puff ( the full size does not). It is nice and soft but I still prefer to use my brushes with loose powders like this, as I find that brushes give me an even distribution of powder without picking up too much in one go. The puff is a little big to fit in the container which is a con for me, as the puff on its own outside tends to gets dirty.
It delivers a silky smooth matte finish. If you are the one who likes to go for dewy look, I would not advise to use this powder, as it takes away every bit of shine. This powder would be perfect for oily skin but even those with dry skin like me can use it without a problem, if you are one looking for a complete matte finish.
Overall I do like this powder and will recommend.
Pros of Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder:
• Gives a smooth, silky complete matte finish
• Does not accentuate dry patches or fine lines if use sparingly.
• Set makeup and keeps oil away all day
• No white cast, perfect for flash photography
• Travel size comes with a small puff handy to use on the go.
• Does give very sheer coverage, not too much.
Cons of Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder:
• Some may find the finish too matte, it takes away all the shine, dewiness and glow from the face.
• The puff is too big and doesn’t fit inside the container. Need to store it outside which makes it prone to getting dirty.
• The loose nature of the powder makes it not so travel-friendly .
