My Experience with L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in Black:
I generally do not prefer pencil eyeliners because none of the pencil eyeliners I have used in the past gave me a smooth and intense line. There was a lot of tugging involved and I could never get a decent line of my desired thickness! To top that, the end result after so much of struggle was not at all good! Not to mention, the eyeliner disappeared in patches within a few hours of application! So, I stuck to liquid and gel liners and avoided all pencil liners.
Recently, I saw the L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner at my local drugstore. It is described as a “silk inspired liquid pencil.” It looked promising, so I thought I would give it a shot.
The L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner comes in a number of pretty shades. The plastic body of the pencil matches the color of the liner, which makes it easy to identify the liner of your color choice for the day! The pencil has a transparent cap and a gold band on the top. The color of the liner is printed in gold on the pencil body.
I was skeptical about the 16-hour claim this product makes. Moreover, I have really oily lids. So, I did not expect it to last long, but was I surprised! I applied it at 9 in the morning and when I checked at the end of the day by 10 PM, it was still as good as it was I had applied it initially. That is over 13 hours! I have never had this kind of result with any liner. And I had not even topped it with a powder shadow or anything! You have a short window to correct any mistake you make during application, after which it sets. Once set, it does not smudge or smear or fade throughout the day.
The liner is extremely soft and creamy and glides so easily on the lids. There is no skip, no tugging. You can draw a smooth intense line in just one single stroke. It is really like silk. You need to apply just the slightest pressure. The pigmentation is mind blowing! This is the darkest black any liner has ever given me so far!
I also used this liner to tightline my upper and lower waterline. The liner on my upper waterline lasted me throughout the day with very minimal fading at the end of the day. On my lower waterline though, the liner faded a little after 5 hours. I wear contacts and my eyes water a lot. In spite of that, this liner did a really good job! I also did not face any eye irritation with this liner. Usually, any liner I use to tightline my upper lashline transfers to my lower lashline in a couple of hours, even though the liner may claim to be a waterproof one. But this is the first liner which did not transfer to my lower lashline on days when I tightlined only the upper waterline. This has become my go-to eyeliner for tightlining now! If you have ever faced any problem with tightlining your upper lashline, try this one. You will be really pleased.
As with any pencil liner, the tip gets blunt after one use. More so with this one, as it is so creamy that the product gets used up pretty fast. You can try to give a sharper edge to the tip by gently rolling the side of the tip on a tissue. But be very gently, as the tip is very soft and will break easily if you apply more pressure on it.
I could get a maximum of two uses before I had to sharpen. Some people have reported issues with sharpening this pencil due to the gold band on the top of the pencil. But I just used my Milani Dual Sharpener and did not face any problem at all. On the packaging, it is recommended to use the L’Oreal Dual Sharpener, but I guess any good sharpener would do. The gold band is also plastic, not an actual metal band. So there is no issue with sharpening. I wish this was in the form of a retractable pencil but I guess that may not be possible due to the creaminess of this product.
Since my eyelids are so oily, I was able to get it off just with soap and water! For people with dry lids, you may need a good eye makeup remover.
Pros of L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in Black:
- Highly pigmented darkest black.
- Extremely smooth and creamy formula.
- Liner glides easily on the lids with no skip or tug.
- Lasts through the day on the lids with no fading or smudging or smearing.
- Lasts for over 5 hours on lower waterline.
- Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.
- Did not face any eye irritation due to this.
- Does not transfer from upper lashline to lower lashline.
Cons of L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in Black:
- Since the product is so soft and creamy, the tip may break unless you are very gentle.
- Has to be sharpened.
Would I Recommend L’Oreal Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in Black?

Thank you so much, Anubhuti! 🙂 As far as I know, it is not available in India yet. But it was launched around March or so in US, so I guess it would take some more time for it to be released in India. Hope it comes soon! 🙂
