What is MAC Greasepaint stick?

Greasepaint Stick is available in eight fabulous, limited-life shades… the ultimate inky colour payoff is an homage to the success we had with Style Black and DSquared last season.
Use as a Shadow or Liner: ludicrously long-wearing, transfer- and water resistant, flexible and five-star comfortable.

Shades Available :
- GREENGREASE -Blackened forest green
- SLICK BLACK -True carbon black
- UNIFORMLY BLUE -Blackened navy
- ZINC ZONE -Dark gunmetal
- DIRTY -Blackened taupe with pearl
- BELOW GROUND -Blackened bronze
- BROWN, NOW -Blackened burgundy
- CHARRED MAUVE -Blackened violet
What I love about MAC greasepaint sticks?
- They are easy to use, in fact they are fun to use. Just apply them, blend them all over your lid , apply mascara and you are done.
- They don’t smudge or budge.
- They don’t crease.
- They stay on nicely for good 8- 10 hours.
- You don’t have to apply a separate base to make them last longer on your lids.
- They are soft and apply smoothly all over the lid. No tugging or pulling your eye lids.
- Excellent for smokey eyes.
What I don’t like about MAC Greasepaint Sticks?
- All the 8 shades have a black base. You can only do smokey eye looks with these.
- MAC states that you can use them as an eye liner but in my opinion, they are too thick to use that ways. You can apply it as a thick line and then smudge it. To give definition, you would HAVE to apply a liquid liner.
- These are retractable and quite soft as well. There is a high probability that you might end up breaking them. I suggest that you twist only as much you require for your usage.
- The application dries pretty quickly. If you don’t move your fingers /brush quickly, it would be a pain to blend it.
Overall I think, if you love doing smokey eyes you must get your hands on atleast one of them. My vote would go for Dirty. It is a blackish bronzy brown shade with pretty shimmer to it. I mostly wear browns and blacks over any other colours so dirty is THE shade for me.
I was planning to buy Slick Black or Brown, Now but now I think Dirty would do a good job for brown, black, dark blue, khaki smokey eyes so it’s a pretty versatile colour.
I applied Dirty all over the lid and then applied khaki colour just on the outer corner and blended it inwards. On upper lash line I applied the Clinique Cream liner – Black Honey
Overall I think I love the idea of grease stick. They are so much fun and easy to use. From the MAC Art Supplies collection, I would say these are a must pick. 🙂

Wow Rati…looks super cool! I love this colour. Also want zinc zone 🙂
I think you have it there already. We get collections pretty late here in India. 🙁
yeah…it’s there but there are other budget buys that work the same 🙂 so wan’t sure if i needed this for so long 🙂
There’s a brand called NYX which is totally comparable to MAC, has almost all the shades and the same pigmentation and colour pay off 🙂
We get a few NYX products in Mumbai but not here. 🙁 They have these fat pencils that work like eye shadows no?
Lucky you. 🙂
Yeah…they r awesome as an eyeshadow base…alone, they crease like mad but super duper soft… You can actually buy them at Cherryculture.com….they ship to India…a good sale is also going on there now 🙂
Greasepaint sticks don’t crease. They just dry up pretty quickly and then just stay on and on.:)
ya…thats y its MAC 🙂 if u r keen on NYX u can try cherryculture.com…
Their glosses and lipsticks are really comparable to MAC…Actually the NYX eyeshadow pencil is a dupe of MAC shadesticks 🙂
I have a powder shadow from NYX and I love how pigmented it is. I can have soft subtle pink to hot pink cheeks depending on my mood. Will check out the website. 🙂
Have heard a lot about NYX round lippies. Guess it’s time to try. 🙂
Yes,the round lippes are awesome! There’s a shade called B52 which is supposed to be flattering for all skin tones..Its an awesome shade 🙂 I am really starting to build up my NYX collection now 🙂
that’s a gorgeous shade. 🙂 You are seriously tempting me, Appu. 😛
Omg…I love B52! it’s like a cheaper, creamier version of Mac Twig.
I think you were talking about NYX jumbo pencils intially…how do they work? My roommate in college often used “milkshake” as a base, but she had to use some udpp below it.
Rati, it indeed looks greasy….im eager to know how GREENGREASE would look! 🙂
actually dirty greasy. :X-P: :X-P:
Let me see if I could get swatches but not promising.. 🙂
Looks good on you 🙂
Thank you. 🙂
super duper cool look rati…
looking pretty in that want to see video if possible
hope to buy one soon not much coz stocking up on e/s ….
but one is okay to have in stach …
That’s very easy look, Rashmi. Did nothing, just blending. 🙂 Let me see if I could do that.
Yeah, I don’t think you really need to stock all of these until you are a professional makeup artist. Just may be one or two. I would say may be of the colour that you use the most.
i love the look!
*bows* 🙂
I’m big big fan of ur blog n check it everyday. i also came across cherryculture.com and crushcosmetics.com.just wanted to know whether its ok to shop online in terms of product quality i do wanna buy nyx stuff 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Sonia, I see no harm in shopping online. I mean what could be better if all the stuff that you love could be delivered at your doorstep. The only word of precaution would be to read some of the reviews online, and check out swatches before purchasing so that you are able to weigh the pros and cons of the products . That’s it. 🙂
Thank you for the kind words. 🙂
Sorry for barging in 🙂 Hi sonia… you can checkout haul videos/swatches of some people who have ordered from cherryculture on youtube. From what I have seen, its pretty good. But I am not sure about the swatches on the cherryculture site…I don’t think they are so accurate. Hope that helps 🙂
not barging in, sweetheart. 🙂
Ummmmm…. Looks like you swatched dark chocolate….
But I am very very curioous about BeELOW GROUND snd BROWN, NOW…. :-)) :-)) :-))
But i 10000% agree wid u tht these should have been available in some neutral, daily wear colours!!!! :-/ :-/ :-/
Crazy makeup ladies are never satisfied!!!! :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :rotfl: :rotfl:
.-= Mrunmayee´s last blog ..Jovees Gold Eye Contour gel- Review =-.
he he .
I agree M. Sometimes such a dark base also eats up the colour that you apply on top. But since you have big eyes, I think you would rock with such heavy smokey looks. 🙂
Well, according to us no makeup company makes perfect products. :rotfl:
I want charred mauve!!!!!
btw i totally lovee how u did your eyes!
Mauves are really in this season. Did you check these out personally?
Thank you. 🙂
Pretty smokey eyes Rati.
And yeah the colour is definitely dirty..but in a nice way of course. :cute:
Would love to see BROWN, NOW and Uniformly navy 🙂
Poornim,a
I dunno when the collection would come in Bang but def check these out. These are not something that you could use every day but atleast one of these would add to the collection. 🙂

I NEED one im my life too !!
.-= Palak´s last blog ..New in Lush – Colour supplements . A preview =-.
yeah Palak, i also think one grease stick should def be in the collection. 🙂
Thank you. :-*
Devika,
Yeah I was talking about the jumbo pencils. I dunno but I find the milk pencil very white and I wonder how well it would work on our skin tones…what do you think?
You may use them as your eyeshadow bases. This helps to make your eyeshadow colours stronger and more vibrant.
you know how i feel about these babies!
I know. Atleast one is a must pick. 🙂
