MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colour Ess-Presso and Recollection Review

Today, I am reviewing two unique colors from MAC’s Retro Matte Liquid lipstick – one is “Ess-Presso” which is a gorgeous taupe brown color and the other one is called “Recollection,” which is a stunning cool-toned purple color, and it’s a true great purple color. My Experience with MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lip Colour Ess-Presso and Recollection:

These are absolutely amazing lipsticks. I really like this range of matte liquid lip colors because there is a whole lot of variety in the collection and it has also some of the most crazy and unique colors, especially this taupe brown color called “Ess-Presso,” which is such a unique color in itself. It’s such a cool-toned brown. People with light to medium skin tone – if you want something offbeat to wear, like a cool brown to wear, you can totally go for this look. It also reminds me of “Stone” in regular MAC lipstick. The shade “Recollection” reminds me of MAC Heroine lipstick. These can be a little drying on the lips and can accentuate fine lines on the lips, but I feel most liquid lipsticks would do that. These liquid lipsticks do give you long wear.

They give a very saturated, opaque finish to your lips and do not feel extremely drying. I wouldn’t say they completely dry out your lips, but they do feel dry. They feel comfortable on the lips though. If you are somebody who uses liquid lipsticks regularly, then it should not be a problem.

I also feel wearing a lip pencil underneath makes them more comfortable to wear than wearing them on their own.

Also, I don’t find them making that ring inside the mouth (very common to liquid lipsticks) and they kind of sit very nicely. They are totally transferproof and are long wearing. I would say that like after eating a proper meal, they feel a little crumbly, but I do find that it’s the case with most liquid lipsticks; especially with our Indian food, if you eat something oily, it would break down the formula. You can always pat your lips and reapply the lipstick and it would be just fine. It is always best to use a lip balm and exfoliant prior to applying any liquid lipstick, not just these, and they would just sit fine.

These lip colours have that regular MAC vanilla fragrance and feel quite nice. In fact, all MAC lipsticks have that fragrance.

They don’t have any taste to them. They are not my most favorite liquid lipsticks because now I have used so many different formulas. They are easily available in India. Esspresso and Recollection are such stunning, unique colors to pick up from the range. The packaging is really nice, you can see the color through the packaging.

These are some of the best liquid lipsticks available in India in my opinion. Both the colors are unique, you can wear them whenever you want a change of pace with your makeup. These would totally do justice to your look. They don’t feel heavy on the lips, last very long.

If you have very dry lips, you need to be aware that these lip colours do feel dry, but if you are a regular liquid lipstick wearer and do not mind a little bit of dryness, then these are absolutely amazing.
