My uncle came home from abroad recently and he brought me and my sis lots of makeup as gifts ☺. Most of it were from Make Up For Ever, a brand which I’m trying for the first time, since I usually stick to the good ol’ Maybellines, Revlons and Lakmes which are more within my budget . Among the loot were two waterproof eye liner pencils.
Here I review the Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eye Liner Pencil in two shades – 7L Turquoise and 3L Iridescent Navy Blue. Apparently, all the products from the Aqua range from MUFE are waterproof versions of their other makeup products.
Name of the Product: Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eye Liner Pencil in 7L Turquoise and 3L Iridescent Navy Blue
• Waterproof liner
• Highly pigmented
• Doesn’t run or fade under extreme conditions
• Fluid, creamy texture
• Doesn’t irritate eye contour
• Ophthalmologist tested
My experience of Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eye Liner Pencil: The eye liner pencils come with a transparent cap which fits perfectly. It is advised to always leave the cap on to prevent the pencils from drying out.
The ends of the pencils also show the color which is true to the actual product color.
Directions of use: Sharpen the pencil and draw the line directly onto the skin. Rapidly smudge with the finger or a sponge applicator for a more intense look. After use, always replace the cap so that the tip does not dry out.
The eye pencil is easy enough to draw with, but not all that creamy. It isn’t of the scratchy type either, but I would have expected it to be softer and more fluid. Immediately on application, it is possible to smudge it, but after that it stays put.
This is one of those pencils that you want to wear for a long night out without worrying about whether it’ll still be visible enough for photos taken at the end of the day. It doesn’t go even if you rub your eyes. Here are the swatches:
On the left is 7L Turquoise and on the right is 3L Iridescent Navy Blue.
The Navy Blue is a deep dark color and is not an ‘in your face’ colored eyeliner, although the blue is definitely visible. It is the perfect shade to choose if like me, you’re just starting out with eyeliners other than black or brown.
As you can see, the Turquoise is a little shinier than the Navy Blue. It is certainly a bolder color and also more fun. Though I wouldn’t personally go for it, I know girls who would rock a color like that!!
I wore it on my eyes for quite some time and I didn’t face any irritation or burning at all. I was delighted with its staying power and wished my uncle had also got me the black which I could use everyday!! I know, I can be real greedy ☺.
The MUFE Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eye Liner Pencil also comes in 25 other shades, of which 18 L Burgundy has already been reviewed here on IMBB.
Ingredients: I didn’t find an ingredient list, but here is some info from the Make Up For Ever website. The product formula contains:
Volatile silicone oils
Cotton seed oils
High pigment concentration

3. Doesn’t fade, only goes with good use of make up remover
4. A large number of shades to choose from
5. Does not irritate eyes
6. 3L Iridescent Navy Blue is good for those starting out with colored eyeliners
Cons of Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eye Liner Pencil
1. Oily eye lids might require powdering of the eye area to avoid slippage
2. Not very creamy
3. Feels a little dry
4. Not easily available in India
5. In the higher price range
6. 7L Turquoise might be a bit too bold for some
Would I recommend/repurchase this product? The price is a bit on the higher side, otherwise I’d definitely go for the Navy Blue!! And considering the super staying power, the price is worth it ☺. I think it’s a great product for a bride to have, in a few colors to match her trousseau.
