Today’s review is on another bright eyeliner from Make Up For Ever. This range has been around for a while – geared more towards the professional makeup artists. However, in the last couple of years, more and more professional makeup is now being accessed by the general consumer for experimentation – whether for social media (Instagram, Snapchat, etc.) or for real life. It is an interesting trend. I’m keen to know how long it sustains.

My Experience with Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner 5 Diamond Turquoise Blue:
Packaging: The product comes packaged in a typical liquid liner packaging. The good thing is that the tube itself and the top of the cap are color coordinated with the shade of the product. This allows you to be able to reach for the one you want more easily. The tube is quite thin. You screw to open the cap to find that the product has a felt tip. The tip is quite sturdy enabling you to make clear, precise lines. As per the company, the thinness of the tube/cap is to mimic the feel of a brush in the hand. The whole thing comes packaged in a black cardboard box – as with any other MUFE product. Overall, the packaging is efficient and effective.
Shade: The shade in question is such a gorgeous Turquoise Blue. Like Iridescent Fuchsia, this too has this metallic sheen instead of shimmer particles in it. However, extremely up-close you can barely discern micro glitter particles in silver and turquoise. All in all, it makes for a bright and attention-grabbing shade which can instantly lift an otherwise neutral look. It is not the shade you would wear to work unless you work at Sephora, of course! 😉
Texture: The texture is quite liquid. The company suggests you shake the product before using; this ensures the product dispenses out as a homogenous mixture. Else, the pigment does separate from the base. The product applies smoothly. The pigment does not skip or clump together. You get a nice even line. Also, the base does not feather into my fine lines. The product definitely has a good formula for the application. However, this shade too stings like crazy, if it enters the eye (even accidentally). Not slight discomfort, it really really hurts. You have no choice but to take it off, along with your makeup. Like the other shades from this range, this too, I use as an accent tone. I do not use it close to my waterline.
The product dries out fairly quickly and is pretty much budge-proof once it has set. It will not move the entire day nor will it lose its shimmer or the intensity of the shade. Yes, it is waterproof. Since this one does not have the shimmer particles, it will not flake off even if you rub your eyes. It just does not budge – quite like the Iridescent Fuchsia shade. Also, unlike the teal shade, this does not stain the skin either.
Pigmentation: The product has excellent pigmentation. The shade and shimmer create such a homogenous mix that the color really pops! You do not need to go over it twice to make the shade show up. A single swipe has the full intensity of the shade.
Longevity: Love the longevity of this one. As I mentioned earlier, it stays put the whole day. It will not fade, it will not feather. It just doesn’t budge. It gives you full-day wear. You need an oil-based makeup remover to take it off at the end of the day. And it can tend to stain the skin ever so slightly.
In the EOTD, I have used it as an accent shade by creating a double flick with it. I know the application is choppy – please ignore that. I was doing trials. But, I did want you to see the product in action.
Pros of Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner 5 Diamond Turquoise Blue:
• Unique bright turquoise shade
• Waterproof – does not budge once put on
• Excellent pigmentation
• Easy to do a thin or a thick line
• Easy to do a cat flick
• Effective and efficient packaging
• The felt tip is easy to work with
• Texture is excellent; does not thin out or separate out while applying
• DOES NOT BUDGE – you can rub your eyes and it will still be there
Cons of Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner 5 Diamond Turquoise Blue:
• Stings badly if the product enters the eye/waterline area. A bummer, considering it is an eye product
Would I Recommend Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner 5 Diamond Turquoise Blue?
This is quite a stunning shade. If you are looking for trying a new bold, bright look, this is worth a shot. However, if you want to play it safe, I would suggest skipping this liner.
