Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Color Paint Eye Shadow M-20 Matte Ultramarine Blue and M-10 Matte Black Review

I have to start by saying that no one does colors the way Make Up For Ever does. It is one of my favourite brands ever when it comes to colors. They have launched these new Aqua XL Color Paints, I had picked them up from Paris back in March, but I think they have officially launched only recently all over the world.

These are basically waterproof cream eyeshadows that come in 3 finishes – matte, satin and shimmer and in 20 different colors. I have them in 8 colors. I am reviewing two of them from the matte range:

M10 Matte Black : a super super matte black.
M 20 Matte Ultra Marine Blue a stunning true royal blue.

These are very versatile cream colors that can be used as eyeliner, eyeshadow, as a base for eyeshadow, as a mascara, face paint, lip color, blush… you think of it and you can do anything with these. These are your colorful tubes and all you have to do is play with them. 😀

Here are quick pros and cons for the gorgeous tubes:

  • Available in 20 stunning colors and 3 finishes.
  • Super waterproof. I mean they don’t budge no matter what. They don’t crease as a shadow, don’t fade as a blush and don’t disappear as a liner…you are so set with these. The flip side is that they are hard to remove. You need a good oil-based remover to get rid of these paints.
  • Very versatile – can be used in any way you want on your face. Can be used on waterline too and they have never irritated my eyes.
  • Super pigmented.

  • The tubes are coloured, so they are easy to store and locate.
  • The tube packaging makes it hard to detect how much product you need in one go. The first few times you’d use, it would lead to a lot of wastage of product.
  • They dry very quick, so there is very less play time with these. You have to work fast.
  • They tend to crack if you layer them up too much or go over them a lot or even use a lot of product in one go. Thin layers is what you need for this to work.
  • If you are a makeup artist and tend to squeeze out products at the back of your hand, be wary of these. These would be a pain to come off. 😀
  • You can mix different colors to make your own.

Overall, I adore these tubes. You need to get hang of these the first few times, but once you do, you’d be obsessed. If nothing has ever lasted on your eyes, you need to try these. If you are a stage artist, these are your dream products because you may sweat or sing or dance or do anything.. these are not going to budge. Also, great for brides – cry or dance away..these would stay. 😀 Definitely recommended.
