Makeup Academy Peachy Keen Matte Lipstick Review

I had heard about MUA’s lipsticks and thought of giving it a try. As always, I went for their matte lipsticks as I am a matte lover. This MUA lipstick in Peachy Keen left me terribly disappointed. Find out how!

My Experience with Makeup Academy Peachy Keen Matte Lipstick :

The lipstick is packaged in a white cylindrical case, on which name of the brand is written in silver. These lipsticks are color-coded. For easy identification of the shade, a tiny transparent tube on the cap that contains the color of the lipstick is present. The lipstick case is not very travel-friendly as it is likely to open in your purse. ‘Peachy Keen’ is described as a soft peach. The shade is a soft peach with a hint of pink. It is an extremely wearable shade for all occasions. Unfortunately, it will wash out dusky beauties. It has a mild vanilla fragrance that vanishes quickly.

MUA matte lipstick in ‘Peachy Keen’ is actually matte. It is a true matte finish lipstick. No semis about it. On the arm the lipstick swatches fairly easily but it drags on the lips. It is drying and lip-balm underneath is a must. Though it didn’t feel heavy on the lips. Unfortunately with its true matte formula it settles into fine lines and clings to the dry patches on the lips. Thus, exfoliation is a must prior to its application. It does not bleed but transfers a bit.

Now comes the worst part of the lipstick, its pigmentation. The pigmentation of this lipstick is terrible. The arm swatch itself took 3-4 swipes to show up. On the lips, it was like I was dragging this on and on to get the colour but still it was not showing up. Furthermore, as you layer the lipstick to build up colour, it starts getting patchy and results in uneven application which has to be smoothed out using the fingers. Frankly this is unacceptable to me in a lipstick.

The lipstick has average staying power. It stayed on my lips for 2-2.5 hours with light meals in between after swiping on layers and layers to get some coverage. It faded leaving a light tint behind.

• Difficult to build as application gets patchy.
• Transfers.
• Stays on for 2-2.5hours with light meals.
