Makeup Revolution Iconic Smokey Palette Review

Hello peeps,
How are you all going to celebrate dhulendi tomorrow? Hope you all have a safe and a super happy Holi! Coming to the review, I have developed a recent love towards the Makeup Revolution (MUR) products and after doing the MUR dupes post, I got tempted to get this smokey palette which is considered a dupe for the Urban Decay smokey palette! I am not at all an eye make-up person but I tried my best to pin down my thoughts! So let’s move on to the review.

My Experience with Makeup Revolution Iconic Smokey Palette:

I am superimpressed with the MUR eye shadow palettes because they have more than 25 variants to choose from which is like the best thing for the eye make-up lovers since you get to pick the shade ranges you like.

outer box

Packaging: The eyeshadow palette comes in a very attractive looking sleek black box. It closes with a click, so worries of it opening while travelling. The big pan comes inside a very nice box which has the name written over it in the smokey pattern. I quite like how MUR designs the stuff, very cute and decent. It has a huge mirror fixed inside the palette which is great. It has a dual ended brush accompanied but I wish there was one sponge applicator because it gives a very finished blend. The palette is a bit heavy but it can be easily kept in a bag for travels.

shade names

Shades:
• Light – A pretty rose gold champagne shade with beautiful shimmers.
• Glow – A subtle shimmery gold shade which is great for every-day wear and to neutralise a look.
• Stained – A shimmery golden brown colour which would work great with the former 2 shades for a festive look.
• Erupt – A beautiful taupe shade with subtle shimmers that give a metallic sheen. It gives a start to the grey shades in the palette; would love using this shade in the outer V of my eyes.
• Silvery – The brightest silver shade with beautiful grey undertones with shimmer which is great for the entire lid for the intense smokey look.
• Smoke – A dark grey with subtle shimmers which is great to be blended with silvery.
• Shadow – A darker version of smoke.
• Haze – A very pretty purplish grey shade which is apt for the crease.
• Steam – A basic taupe shade with a matte finish.
• Rubble – A matte muddy brown shade which I don’t like a lot since it blends a little with the skintone.
• Flicker – A flesh toned shade with pink and peach hints which can be used as a highlighter for the brow bone or I use it in the middle of my lids to create a highlighting effect and draw some attention.
• Exhale – A matte beige colour for highlighting purpose; the inner corner of the eyes look very innocent and subtle when highlighted with this.

palette
I think the shade selection is perfect for this palette and each shade has a unique hint.

Texture, colour pay-off and finish: The texture is really smooth and appears on my fingers or the brush very easily. It is not chalky or gritty which is why it blends very nicely on the eyes. The pigmentation is really good and the colour pay-off is amazing. It appears in the first swipe itself but I swipe it 2-3 times to build up the intensity. The finish is very smooth and defined. The shimmers appear very well and do not cheap at all. In fact on the eyes, it creates a very professional look.

eyeshadows

Staying power: I thought wearing a primer beneath would increase the lasting power and it did. But even if I did not wear a primer, it wouldn’t have made a big difference because it lasts pretty long on its own. It lasts for 7-8 hours and does not cause any fall-out. So I am very impressed with it!

Pros of Makeup Revolution Iconic Smokey Palette:

• Amazing packaging which is compact with a big mirror and a dual-ended brush.
• The palette has matte and shimmery shades both.
• The shades are really amazing and sexy and help to create a perfect smokey eyes look.
• A lot of different eye make-up looks can be created with just 1 palette.
• The pigmentation is great as compared to the price.
• The colour pay-off shows up brilliantly in 2 swipes.
• The intensity of the colours can be built up using a decent primer.
• The shades perfectly blend with each other but I can notice every shade differently too.
• Stays put for 7-8 hours and even more with a primer.
• Causes minimal fall-out.

Cons of Makeup Revolution Iconic Smokey Palette:

• I wish there was a sponge applicator on one end of the brush.
