Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation Review

Hello IMBBians,

I have never been a foundation person. When I was in my teenage years, I remember my mom using the iconic Lakme foundation during functions and dabbing some on me! After being a part of IMBB for so long, I laugh about the fact that the shade was always way too fair than my skin complexion. I thought foundations are for making you look fair! Keeping these thoughts apart, my hunt for foundation ended when I picked a foundation from Max Factor and today’s review is on Max Factor Skin Luminizer.

My Experience with Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation:

Seeing all the makeup gurus and Rati’s beautiful makeup, I was so inspired that I decided that I need to get myself a foundation. I initially wanted to get a cushion foundation that’s raved about so much; I wanted to get the L’Oreal one, but unfortunately, the shades were only for pale and fair skinned people and the last shade was also very light for me, so I searched around in other brands, and that’s how I came across this foundation, and what’s more, I found a shade that matched my complexion, bliss!

The foundation comes in a clear plastic pump bottle. It has swirly white luminizer lines that run through the foundation, and along with the foundation, they make your face glow. The foundation comes out through a pump dispenser and just one pump is more than enough to cover the face and neck. I recently had to travel and picked this product along and while flying, I noticed that there was some spillage in the cap. It could be also due to the fact that I had used half a pump of foundation and it might have smeared the cap.

The foundation is creamy and light, not thick. I use a makeup brush to apply it as applying it with hands proved to be a disaster. As soon as I blend it on my face I can see tiny luminizers all over my face. My face starts shining and this is so cool when there is light and the sun, my face actually glows! The swatch below shows the glowing particles, they are very small and don’t look weird on the face.

The foundation imparts a good coverage and gives a flawless finish. The pores are minimized and also the marks can be concealed with higher coverage. I have never tried the high coverage and have kept it to a minimum. I have been using this product for a month now and never had any breakouts or irritation. The product can be used to achieve a natural dewy look and it just looks perfect that way. The foundation gives a soft dewy and healthy look.

Coming to the longevity, the product stays put for around 6-8 hours and with a good primer and powder, you can make the makeup last the whole day. There are days that I have just gone with the foundation and without the powder and I have had no issues! The foundation is perfect for photographs! So overall, it is a good product, but with all the goodness, there are a few negatives about this product too! There is no SPF and with most of the foundations out there offering SPF, Max Factor should have considered this factor. This foundation is a big “no-no” for dry skin. The skin has to be moisturized before application. There is no moisturiztion factor and if you have not primed and moisturized your skin, the foundation flakes out on dry skin and it is an odd sight! I have my skin peeling out and I have to skip the foundation as the results will be disastrous! The foundation melts with sweat! In hot temperatures like 35+ degrees, I have noticed that the foundation caused white patches.

Pros of Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation:

  • A good coverage foundation.
  • Hygienic pump dispenser.
  • One pump is enough for a good daily coverage.
  • Creates a soft, natural, dewy look.
  • The luminizers make the face glow.
  • A perfect foundation for photographs.
  • Provides flawless finish.
  • Easily blend-able.
  • Lasts long.
  • Covers open pores and light blemishes.

Cons of Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation:

  • Need to apply on well-moisturized skin.
  • No SPF factor.
  • Not suitable for dry skin.
  • Does not moisturize skin, has a tendency to flake out on dry skin.
  • Melts and settles in high temperatures.
  • Just 7 shades in this range.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation?
No! This will go a long way for me and maybe I will look for more options.
