Lip balms are a necessity for everyone. There are several available in the market yet we all love Baby Lips from Maybelline. I finally decided to pick a lip balm from the Baby Lips range and today’s review is on the “Hydrate” version.
No more basic lip balm. Our exclusive formula moisturises lips for a full 8 hours with SPF 20 lip protection balm. Maybelline Baby Lips Balm Hydrate – New Baby Lips lip balm from Maybelline New York gives intense care and 8 hour hydration, and is nourishing for baby soft lips. Its clinically tested formula has SPF 20 to leave lips feeling soft, conditioned and cared for.
How To Use:
Apply your lip colour by starting in the centre of your upper lip. Work from the centre to the outer edges of your lip, following the contours of your mouth. Then glide across the entire bottom lip.
My Experience with Maybelline Baby Lips Hydrate Lip Balm:
I have been hoarding lip balms and I want it everywhere I go. I moved on from tinted lip balms to lipsticks just a few months ago. I have been buying clear lip balms and leaving all the colours to the lipsticks. I came across baby lips hydrate lip balm and what else, I decided to buy it.
The lip balm comes in a roll-up twist packaging. The colour is blue and the cap is transparent and you can see the product in it. The cap is sturdy and shuts with a click. The lip balm comes in a sealed package and this is a plus for me.
The lip balm has a white bullet and when applied, it comes as a clear lip balm. It has a mild citrus-y fragrance but that doesn’t last for more than a few minutes.
This lip balm makes lips look glossy and with a flash or light, the lips can sparkle a bit. I am not a fan of this because when applied over a lipstick, it imparts a glossy effect while I prefer matte finish.
The lip balm forms a thin film over the lips and is a bit sticky. This lip balm provides very good care for dry lips. Even though it doesn’t completely cure dry lips, it does make them soft. This lip balm nourishes and hydrates the lips. It makes lips smooth and soft instantly. However, for extremely dry lips, it doesn’t do anything to heal the dry flakes.
This lip balm makes the lips soft and moisturized for around 5-6 hours after which reapplication is a must. It doesn’t dry out the lips in this time frame and I absolutely love it. The lip balm is also enriched with SPF 20 and this is an added bonus to protect your lips against the harsh UV rays.
Pros of Maybelline Baby Lips Hydrate Lip Balm:
- Makes lip soft and nourished.
- Makes lip hydrated and moisturized.
- Enriched with SPF 20.
- Doesn’t dry out the lips for 5-6 hours.
- Mild citrusy fragrance.
- Sealed packaging.
- Affordable and easily available.
Cons of Maybelline Baby Lips Hydrate Lip Balm:
- Feels a bit heavy and has a sticky texture.
- Adds shine and thus not suitable over a matte lipstick.
- Doesn’t get rid of dry flakes.

I have the red one in this, can’t recall the name. I totally love it. It gives a subtle shade and perfect sheen. The only con is that it has to be reapplied every 2 hours or so.
