The Maybelline Lip Smooth Color Bloom Lip Balms comes in two colors- Pink Blossom and Peach Blossom. I picked Peach Blossom since I already have a pink tinted lip balms and I thought a coral or peach shaded lip balm would be interesting and a nice change. Pictured above is my tube of Peach Blossom. The tube is more brightly colored in actual and twists up and down very easily. The balm is clear in the tube, but once applied, gives a subtle wash of color.

Here is Maybelline Lip Smooth Peach Blossom Color Bloom Lip Balm swatched on my arm
My camera really tends to wash out colors- in actual this was about two shades brighter. I was surprised by how bright it looked on my arm, for a tinted lip balm, but I did swipe it back and forth three times. Swatched on skin, it’s a nice, bright, though sheer coral pink with no shimmers. Applied on my lips though, the color was sheerer and more of a pink with a bit of coral.

Supposedly, the shade it turns out to be depends on the temperature of the lips, and the warmer the lips are, the more obvious the color. I’m not sure if I noticed the color of this changing on my lips, I think I got pretty much the same color every time I used it. I did experiment with it today though and I seemed to get a slightly deeper color by swiping on more product. Color-changing properties aside, I thought it was great how this gave a nice sheen to my lips and how it brought a hint of color to my face, but looked very natural at the same time.

What I like about Maybelline Lip Smooth Peach Blossom Color Bloom Lip Balm

• The pretty, natural looking color it gives to my lips.
• It has SPF 16 so it protects my lips from the sun when I’m outside.
• It moisturizes my lips pretty well and has a smooth, soft texture.
• I like its sweet candy scent, which I personally don’t find too strong.
• The tube twists up and back down very easily.
• It’s cheap at only around $2.

What I don’t like about Maybelline Lip Smooth Peach Blossom Color Bloom Lip Balm

• The taste. Ugh. It has this chemical, soapy taste. I get a bit of it every time I apply this product and each time I rub my lips together. Yuck!

Overall I think this is an okay product. While I really do like the subtle, flattering color it imparts on my lips, and that it moisturizes nicely and has SPF, the awful taste it has is kind of a deal breaker for me. Would I buy it again? Probably not. There are many other tinted balms around and I’d rather try other ones.
