There are 4 shades but somehow all the stores I went to have just two, I got the second shade in Nude Beige. This is too light for me I know but this is more like a setting and mattifying powder, just to soak up the oil or foundation shine, not to really cover up the skin anyway. It is very matte and slightly chalky in a nice way, just to soak up the oil on the skin. So, even if you swirl a huge powder brush and swirl it on your face, you are actually not getting an coverage, but just a matte finish. Of course, this color helps to lighten skin or a darker foundation. It does not do anything for blemishes or pores.
Some say this is a take on the earlier Dream Matte powder, or the Rimmel Stay Matte pressed powder. It is a take on the Rimmel one in my opinion but Rimmel is slightly better-looking, both are equally plasticky. Both come in the same chalky matte powdery feel, though Rimmel is softer and coverage wise, Matte maker is sheer.
Well, having no flip open pan and applicator, is a big pain for me. It comes in screw open lid which falls off everywhere. In fact my pan has got no glue, the tin pan just falls off, I need to fix it,this was the way it came from day 1. The pan is huge, this will last me all my life honestly. I use it to fix makeup, concealer, or oily areas. I tested it out on the forehead between the brows where I get most oily. It does not oxidize at all.
The powder is not very fine but not very hard either, this is perfect to not worry about heavy feel, you can use as much, without looking cakey or heavy, this just lightens skin with a sheer feel and mattifies brilliantly. It keeps me shine-free for 4-5 hours in the UK weather 🙂 I can simply use an oil blotting sheet, and swirl this powder again on oily areas, the pan is huge to last you for the longest time.I have combination skin as of now.
It clings to dry patches needless to say, this is meant for oily skin only. It clings to the nose where I have pores, and it does not look flattering.I would highly suggest pat it with a puff on the oily areas only, or take a huge powder brush and swirl on the face. It is not magical but works great to mattify. It feels and looks like second skin. So far, it has not broken me out 🙂 They need more dark shades though. Overall, at this price, it is a good pick if you get your shade.
