My Experience with Maybelline The Powder Mattes Colorsensational Mauve It Up Powder Matte Lipstick:

The packaging of the lipstick is nice and matte. The lipstick comes in the regular Maybelline Colorsensational packaging, what makes it different from other colorsensational lipsticks is the matte finish cap. The lipstick tube is rectangular and comes wrapped in a cellophane paper, which has the necessary details about the product. The tube has a mirror finish and it closes with a long plastic cap.

The cap is color-coded according to the color family to which the respective shade belongs. Also, there is a color-coded sticker at the base of the lipstick tube which bears the shade name. The cap shuts securely making the packaging purse friendly. Overall, I do not find any flaws about the packaging of the product. It is nice and travel friendly.

“Mauve It Up” is a beautiful pink shade with slightly mauve hue. It is a dusty mauve shade, which is beautiful and subtle for everyday use. The color is apt for fair to medium skin tones. It is such a gorgeous everyday shade, which can be easily worn anywhere without making you look over the top. The lipstick does not contain any shimmer or glitter at all. The lipstick sets to a nice powdery matte finish as its tagline suggests. Though it looks slightly shiny initially, but later, it settles down to a perfect matte finish.

The lipstick is decently pigmented and is capable of hiding pigmented lips very well. It gives semi-opaque coverage in a single swipe. Two-three coats are good enough to build up the color evenly on the lips and hide all the pigmentation.

I love matte lip colors so much and I have fallen in love with the texture of these lipsticks by Maybelline. Normally matte lipstick tend to have a dry texture, but these are different. The texture is incredibly soft and smooth. The lipstick feels so buttery smooth that it glides on the lips like a dream and does not cause any tugging or pulling, which is a common concern with matte lipsticks.

Despite being so smooth in texture, the lipstick bullet does not break or melt, which happens to most of the Maybelline lipsticks I had no matter from which range they are! And I am glad with the fact that these lipsticks do not break or detach from the base. The formula is great but it has the tendency to cling to the dry patches of the lips which is common with every matte lipstick out there therefore you need to prep the lips well prior to application. The color does not settle into the fine lines of the lips. The formula is lightweight and feels ultra comfortable on the lips, feels like nothing on the lips. The lipstick is not very moisturizing, so I prefer using a lip balm beneath every time I use this lipstick otherwise my lips get dry at the end of the day. The formula is smudge proof and the color does not smudge even after a heavy meal, there is very little transfer of color.

The lasting power of the lipstick is impressive, it easily lasts for 4-5 hours on my lips with a little fading. It does not survive meals and fades away evenly leaving a light pink tint behind. I am actually not a fan of tints left behind by lipsticks, so I opt for immediate reapplication.
