I have been a while since I wrote a review. College and other courses that I am pursuing keep me real busy, but there’s always time for makeup right? This review is about the Milani Colour Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick in the shade “69 Matte Beauty.” I saw this shade on Pinterest and it seemed like such an understated lipstick shade plus I’m always looking out for good MLBB shades for brown girls, so I got online and purchased this asap.
Matte lipstick isn’t meant to be drying or complicated to wear and that is what Matte Color Statement Lipstick does! It glides on your lips smoothly and takes you from velvety pale pink to voluptuous red-and everywhere in between-with just one stroke. Infused with grape seed extract imported from Italy, Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick dresses up lips with rich, eye-catching color and a suede-like finish. It offers the same comfort your favorite cream lipsticks provide. This is a long-wearing and non-drying matte lipstick.
My Experience with Milani Color Statement Matte Lipstick Matte Beauty 69:
I have always found Milani’s packaging to be classy and this one is no exception. The bullet tube is gold and reflective and really shiny, which I LOVE! It has the brand’s name engraved on the side and it has the shade’s colour and name at the bottom of the tube, so if you have multiple of these lipsticks in your stash, it’s easy to spot which shade is which. The cap clicks open and is secure when its clicked back close. I honestly love the pretty packaging. I have also noticed that I have kept this lipstick in my vanity box for a while but the outside doesn’t have any scratches or hasn’t dulled in shine, which usually happens to a lot of my makeup products.
“Matte Beauty” is a mid-tone brown and anything you see otherwise on the internet may be a result of different lighting and photo editing. From the online site that I picked it up, the shade is depicted as a sort of deep pink and on Pinterest different photos make it look either beige or deep brown depending on the skin tone of the person. On my NC42 skin, it’s a nice warm brown – not too light, not too dark. It looks just a little lighter on my lips, but then again, it’s the perfect MLBB shade for me!
The pigmentation isn’t the greatest but it’s pretty opaque in one swipe and you can build it up easily as it doesn’t get cakey at all; brownie points for a fuss-free formula. I usually line my lips with MAC’s lip pencil in Spice and then apply this over that, and I am ready to rock a “no-makeup” look.
While the description says it’s non drying, it does in fact dry your lips after a couple hours of wear. The formula itself dries to a full powdery type of matte after about 30 minutes, given that you don’t eat or drink anything in those thirty minutes. I would recommend a lip balm under this and dabbing some lip balm on your lips before a touch up.
While it may be slightly drying the formula is rather long lasting. It stays put on me for at least 6 hours and even through meals, with the exception of oily food. The oil will erode the lipstick quite a bit. After 6 hours, it starts to fade, but even then it fades evenly. It’s not patchy and neither does it settle into the fine lines of my lips.
Pros of Milani Color Statement Matte Lipstick Matte Beauty 69:
- Great MLBB shade for tan skinned girls.
- Long-lasting formula.
- Will fairly cover pigmented lips.
Cons of Milani Color Statement Matte Lipstick Matte Beauty 69:
- Will dry lips out after a couple hours of wear.
I fell in love with this shade after the first time I used it and I while it isn’t my go to n*de lip colour I would definitely recommend this shade and lipstick line to everybody!
