My Experience with NARS Minorque Kohliner:

NARS Minorque Kohliner Review7

Well the kohl liner comes in a matte, black, semi-retractable and sleek pen packaging with a safety cap. I mean the kohl tip does not retract back into packaging and I thought that they had given me a defective piece. 😀 Hence lesson learnt, once you twist it up, it won’t retract back, just like our past sins. 😛 Other than that, I am glad that you don’t have to sharpen it.

NARS Minorque Kohliner Review6

Talking about my shade, Minorque – it is a matte charcoal black shade which gives intense matte black color payoff to my eyes with just two gentle swipes. It is definitely the blackest of black kohl liner I own. It is a creamy and powdery kohl liner as it glides smoothly along my lash line and inner rims of the eyes as well. I am also impressed to see that even though it is soft and creamy for my sensitive waterline, yet it is stiff enough to work with.

NARS Minorque Kohliner Review4

I am surprised to see how it maintains its pointed shape after every usage but I can see that it finishes off quickly, like I have twisted it up almost several times in these 2-3 weeks. I have used many creamy liners before which often give thick and lumpy finish, but thankfully this creamy liner is far better than those. It just goes on & on without leaving any lumps or residue on my eyes. I always get clean yet soft jet black finish with this liner whether I use it carelessly or with caution. However, like my usual kohl liners, it also tends to fade away quickly from the outer corners of waterline. Due to this, it needs initial touchups, and after that the liner stays for good 5-6 hours.

NARS Minorque Kohliner Review3

I usually apply 2-3 generous coats of this liner and it never gets accumulated around the corners or looks cakey; in fact it comes up way intense and stays on for several long hours. Moreover it leaves a subtle, soft black, smudged look even after fading off completely. I experience mild sensation while putting Minorque on which usually subsides within half an hour; though I didn’t experience it with my Burberry liner at all. I mean it does not sting or irritate, still it feels like something when I am applying it. Comparing it to my previous love Burberry liner, I feel that the staying power of this one is much longer on its own while the Burberry one tends to fade away quickly within initial 1-2 hours. Minorque manages to stay in place, just that I need to fix the outer corners of my eyes.

But Burberry seems more economical to me as I need not to sharpen the tip before 7-8 uses while I have already twisted Minorque with every second usage. It is just that Minorque is a semi-retractable kohl liner which gets extra points from me. Over all I feel that I need this retractable kohl liner next to my burberry kohl liner for its sleek, smart and retractable packaging. I would definitely recommend this kohl liner to every beauty, especially if you are looking for a kohl that you don’t need to sharpen.

Let’s sum up pros and cons:

Pros of NARS Minorque Kohliner:

• A soft, smooth & creamy charcoal black kohl liner intended even for sensitive waterline
• It glides smoothly on my waterline without tugging or pulling
• The tip of the kohl liner is soft yet firm enough to give neat & clean definition
• The kohl is easily smudgeable yet it does not transfers onto my undereye area
• I get thick, intense, black color payoff in just two swipes which stays put for 5+ hours with one touch-up
• It comes up way black yet soft on my eyes
• I like its semi-retractable, travel friendly packaging

Cons of NARS Minorque Kohliner:

• Once you twist up the kohl liner, it won’t retract back which is tricky
• I feel a mild sensation every time I put on this shade, though it gets subsided quickly
• Cannot check remaining quantity of the liner due to its packaging
• I can see that it finishes off quickly
• Pricey

Well I feel the cons can be easily overlooked, considering its intense black yet soft finish on eyes. The staying power, too, is comparable to various other high end brands. Moreover it is all about personal choice. I might sound too demanding, but wish it has fully retractable packaging.

  1. Neetu I loved how you mentioned that it does not go back just like out past sins 😛 That was really funny! I have two Chambor liners and they too don’t retract, and have to be careful while using it. It otherwise seems to be a great product. 🙂

    1. Hehe shikha 🙂 yeah I usually HV habit to see how much PDT left so I thank god I knew it that minorque is not a typical retractable product else god knows :p

  2. I love this but you claim that the twist type can be a potential problem :/ anyhow should give it a try 🙂 Well reviewed Neetu and after seeing your EOTD feel like buying this after long. I prefer MAC’s but that is pricey as well

    1. Yes rama once u twist up liner it won’t retract back coz its semi retractable packaging so we HV to be cautious or we end up with chunks of liner twisted out. Rest is great with this liner so intense color pay off staying power… 🙂
