NYC 041 Ballroom Blush City Proof Twistable Intense Lip Color Review

Today, I will be reviewing the NYC Lipstick in 041 – Ballroom Blush. I am not a fan of long chubby lip pencils, but I couldn’t resist the shades and the price. So I got two of these lip colours from the NYC website. The other shade I got was 022 – Fulton St Fuchsia reviewed here. These lipsticks are in form of an automatic crayon and follow the trend of long fat lip pencils.

The selection of shades ranges from bright plum, red to nudes, pinks and corals. It is easy to use and pocket friendly. I love how they have named their shades – Ballroom Blush, Riverside Rose, Metropolitan Mauve, etc. So cute!

My Experience with NYC 041 Ballroom Blush City Proof Twistable Intense Lip Color:

I love the product claim – Just twist, glide and go! True to its claim, these lips colours are easy to use and apply, perfect for the getting late for work days. These pencils are packaged so pretty. The colour of the tube is the same colour as the lipstick making it easy to identify. It is a twist up pencil with a transparent cap. However, the product does not go all the way down and utilise the full tube. I feel the tube could have been shorter but then the chubby stick wagon couldn’t be hopped in.They do not have smell or taste, which I like a lot.

Ballroom Blush is a bright dark pink – close to plum shade. It has a creamy consistency and glides on the lips like a dream. It also imparts a shiny gloss to the lips, which is not over the top. It applies super opaque in just one swipe. The colour is very adaptive and can be mixed with a lip gloss or another shade of lipstick to make it bold or neutralise a bit. The shade suits all skin tones and shades. It is a cool toned berry, but suits my yellow toned complexion perfectly.

It also tends to transfer to cups. It is long wearing and stays put on me for a good 5 -6 hours. It fades very evenly and does not make my lips patchy. I have to remove it with makeup remover oil else it tends to stain my lips a bit. It is very moisturising and on the lips, it feels like a lip balm which needs no reapplication. The colour does not settle in my lines or bleed out of the lip. Since it is in the shape of a pencil, I sometimes line my lips with it and fill them with the same or another colour. However, I feel once the pencil loses it tip, I will have to be precise and careful while applying.

Because of its super creamy and buttery texture, it can melt quite a bit in summers. I would recommend keeping it in cool places. I am not too comfortable in carrying this in my bag as I feel it may melt or the cap might come off and the lipstick would be smeared everywhere.

Overall, I love this lipstick. I wear it for work, parties and even on weddings/Indian functions. I am thinking of getting my hands on a few more shades.
