My Experience with NYX Velvet Matte Lipstick Violet Voltage:

The lipstick comes in a black-colored, round plastic tube with a matte finish. The brand name and range name are printed on the tube in simple white fonts. The tube bears the shade name and ingredients list also. There is a sticker at the base of the tube that indicates the shade name and number. The neck of the tube is transparent and one can easily spot the shade from there. The lipstick has a typical bullet with a slanted tip that helps with precise application. The cap of the lipstick shuts satisfactorily making an audible click sound. Overall, the packaging of the lipstick is decent and travel friendly.

“Violet Voltage” is a vibrant violet-purple color. This is a bold shade and not for the weak hearted. The color is beautiful and instantly brightens up my complexion. This shade will flatter almost all Indian skin tones. This shade is surely very bright and such shades along with plums and purples look really lovely during winters. If you are bored from wearing the usual pinks and reds, check out this bold purple-violet lipstick. Such a purple lipstick will change your entire makeup look. Though I like the shade, the color goes on patchy on the lips, even though it’s decently pigmented. It looks dark in some places and lighter on the other, so the finish is not even. It gives semi-opaque coverage in a single swipe and hides pigmented lips well. Two to three swipes build up decent amount of color on the lips. There is no significant sheen or shimmer in this lipstick and it sets to a semi-matte kind of finish.

The texture of the lipstick is average. It is not super creamy or buttery smooth, tugs on the lips slightly. It is necessary to properly exfoliate and moisturize the lips as it has the tendency to cling on to the dry patches of the lips. It looks slightly patchy if the lips are not prepped well. It slightly settles into the fine lines of the lips after having a full meal or once the color fades off and requires reapplication.

The lipstick is smudge proof and does not budge at all. The lipstick has a tendency to transfer a little. It is not heavily transferring. The formula is lightweight. It does not have a thick or waxy kind of feel. Hence, it feels comfortable on the lips. The lipstick formula is not really moisturizing. My lips feel dry after a few hours of application, so it is necessary to keep the lips well hydrated and nourished.

The lasting power is average and it stays for around 4 hours on my lips. The color fades after a full meal and requires reapplication. Removing the lipstick is easy; but it leave a light purplish stain on the lips, which can be taken off using a good makeup remover.
