MaxFactor Liquid Effect Eye Pencil – Violet Voltage Review & Swatches

According to the Website:
MaxFactor’s new Eye Effects Collection offers a range of beauty tools born from backstage make-up artists, specially designed to help make creating professional eye looks easy, empowering women to become their own make-up artist.
Liquid Effect Eye Pencils make perfecting professional eye lines simple, delivering a precision liquid line with the ease of use of a pencil, and featuring a built-in smudger.

How To Use:
Apply to your lower lash line with Liquid Effect Pencil, smudging the edges with the built-in blender. Choose between a flash of colour to brighten your eye look, or add intensity with darker shades.
Price:
7£ on Boots website, will let you know if they are available here which I’m pretty sure they must be.
Shades Available:
Available in 6 shades – Green glow, Violet Voltage, Lilac Flame, Black Fire, Silver Spark and Brown Blaze.
My Word on MaxFactor Liquid Effect Eye Pencil:
In my quest of collecting eye pencils in all possible shades available, I reach out for any new and good brand of eye pencils as I prefer wearing them very often because of their ease of application and long-lasting effect.
The rubbery smudger.
This led me to instantly order this eye pencil which has been newly launched by MaxFactor and I do hope they are available in India too. The name and the shades available would easily attract anyone to try these and as I had a nice purple shade missing in my eye pencils collection, I had to order this one without second thoughts.
Shade:
Violet Voltage is a beautiful purple shade, very much similar to the Colorbar Prunella. It looks more like blackish purple in dim light, but with flash or strong lighting, this looks as a true violet shade. Pigmentation is medium to dark.
Left- The actual shade after 1 swipe and Right- after using the smudger.
Packaging:
This eye pencil comes in double-ended form which has the pencil at one end and a smudger at the other end. Both of these are covered with a clear plastic cap. Pencil can be sharpened. The pencil is of the same color as the shade one is buying so it is very easy to locate it in my eye pencil holder. Overall the packaging is quite cute and attractive.
Texture:
Now do not confuse the name ‘liquid effect’ with the effect the pencil produces on the eyes. It gives the same application as any normal eye pencil would provide with no liquid liner kind of effect. The texture of the eye pencil is soft and creamy and application is therefore, easy and smooth.
The smudger provided is made up of rubber and I think it is more of an eraser than a smudger actually. 😛 It does a nice job of smudging the pencil on the lower lash line, but on the upper lid, I find it like an eraser. :idk: Well, it’s not harsh on the lid though.
Staying Power:
The pencil easily stays on for 6 hours or more. After that it starts fading away slowly and evenly. So, summarising its pros and cons for you all.
Pros of the MaxFactor Liquid Effect Pencil:
- Soft and creamy texture.
- Available in 6 lovely shades.
- Comes with a built-in smudger at one end.
- It is water proof and does not fade or smudge on coming in contact with water.
- It is totally smudgeproof once it sets, which it does within a minute or two of application.
- Stays on easily for 6 – 7 hours.
- Fades away slowly and evenly.
- Packaging is sturdy and attractive.
- Pencil can be sharpened without the fear of breakage.
- Pigmentation is great and is buildable.
Cons of the MaxFactor Liquid Effect Pencil:
- Availability in India is a doubt to me right now, but I think it should be available.
- Smudger acts more like an eraser on the lid. :/
- It is a little costly than the other pencils available in the market.
- I could not find any ingredient list for it.
Rating:
I would rate it 4/5.
Do I Recommend?
Yes. For those looking out for a lovely purple shade or eye pencil, this is surely a great choice.
Now, have a clear look at the shade on my eyes.
Without flash
With flash
With flash after smudging with the attached smudger. You can see that the intensity decreases.
