Outfit of the Day: Black and Gold Ensemble

Outfit of the Day: Black and Gold Ensemble

Hello beauties!

I am back with yet another OOTD which I hope you will like too. This time around, I wanted to share with you what I wore on a formal occasion I attended last year. Yup, I wore this outfit a year ago, but it was one of my favorites and I will soon wear again, in few weeks.
What I wore? Little Black Dress + Long Skirt + Gold Accessories = Black and Gold Ensemble.

Let me break it down a little. =)

What a girl should must-have in her closet is a little black dress.  I am a strong believer of that! Karl Lagerfeld said, one is never over-dressed or under-dressed with a little black dress. On those occasions, you want to be simple yet fab, bust out your LBD and have fun accessorizing!

On the event I graced, I initially wanted to wear my venus cut little black dress which I wore several times already. It originally has silver sequins shoulder strap and I thought of recreating the dress to make it look new and since I was attending a golden birthday party, I wanted to incorporate gold on my dress. I do have a gold headband and replaced the silver shoulder strap with it. =)

It was a golden birthday/Hollywood/red carpet themed party. I really wanted to wear a long gown that time as I wanted to walk along red carpet in something much more elegant than LBD, but I do not have a single long gown. Good thing I found my long black skirt which I was never able to wear ever. I thought of wearing it over my little black dress and add a gold chain belt around my waist and see if it would fake long black gown. Voila! A black and gold ensemble!

Little Black Dress

To make everything coordinated, I wore golden diamond-studded heels that my aunt gave me. I love it a lot as it is oozing with elegance and sexiness. It will make you look a whole lot feminine. It is not too high and I find comfort standing on those the whole night.

Gown

Yup, I was standing for hours since I was one of the event coordinators. The celebrant was my husbands’ aunt and she consulted me about a possible theme for her 50th birthday after we had celebrated my son’s Rock Star themed party. We came out with a Hollywood-themed party and of course I had to work on the program as I partied.  I had lots of fun as I was able to contribute to the success of her party. She’s really dear to me, like she’s my own aunt.

Hollywood Theme party

I carried a gold small purse, vintage black earrings and chunky vintage ring, and of course, I had my son’s outfit matching with mine. I styled him in all black clothing with a gold bow tie and funky brooch with a touch of gold attached to his vest.

Golden Bag

I will wear this outfit again next month, but I was thinking of adding something new to it again. I love doing that as it saves me money and it let me be more creative than usual.

I hope I was able to share some fashion ideas, especially on transforming old clothes into something different, as if it is new.

    1. thanks a lot Sophia. 🙂 I usually wear balloon skirt over my mini dresses which I find too short for my liking. Yeah to add length to it. I am happy by the time I learned that it will work for LBDs too. =) The bow, that was actually a hair ribbon, I recreated to be his bow. 🙂

    1. Thanks Aparajita. 🙂 I am the frugal type, that I’d like to get my money’s worth on every item I get. With that, I’d like to wear them as many times as possible but make them appear different each time. =) I agree about that certain feeling of joy you’ll have towards something you created. It feels oh-so-good. Thanks for appreciating my work Aparajita. =)
