My Experience with Physicians Formula Super CC Color-Correction + Care CC Compact Cream:
The Physicians Formula Super CC Color-Correction + Care CC Compact Cream comes in a white round plastic case with a transparent window on the lid, which lets you see the actual color of the product. The lid closes tightly and you can put it in your bag without worrying. This is a dual-sided compact, as you would find in many Physicians Formula compact products. The back lid of the compact opens to reveal a mirror and a sponge.
The Physicians Formula Super CC Compact Cream is available in only two shades – Light and Light/Medium. I bought the shade “Light/Medium”, but unfortunately, it is slightly lighter than my medium skin tone. I can make it work with a slightly darker setting powder, but I wish Physicians Formula had more shades in their foundations and creams other than just Light and Light/Medium.
The Super CC Compact Cream has a very thin emollient texture. If you swipe your finger on the compact cream, you will come away with a very thin layer of product. While this helps in easily spreading the product on the face and not ending up with a cakey finish, it also provides very minimal coverage. The coverage with one layer of the product is sheer. Since the texture is quite thin, you can layer one or two more layers without looking cakey, but it still does not improve coverage much. You can build it up to semi-medium coverage at the most.
The Super CC Compact Cream is supposed to contain color-correcting pigments which would help to correct uneven skin tone, imperfections, discoloration and the visible signs of ageing. The CC cream does brighten up the face but since the coverage is minimal, the color-correction is also minimal. It covers up minor imperfections and redness but if you have the need for better coverage or color-correction, then this will not help.
The worst part about this product for me personally is that it makes my oily skin look even more oily! I have to use a lot of setting powder to get rid of the oiliness, but within an hour, my skin looks super-oily again. So people with oily skin should definitely skip this. Normal skin can get away with this with the help of a setting powder. Dry skinned folks are the ones who will really enjoy this product. Even when I have some dry patches on my face which many other foundations highlight, this one glides right over and does not enhance the dryness at all.
The sponge provided with the compact does seem to work for applying this product on the face, but I feel that it wastes some amount of product. I generally use my fingers to patch the product on my skin and then blend out using a flat topped brush. You could also blend out using a good sponge like the beauty blender or Real Techniques sponge. The Super CC Compact Cream lasts on my oily skin for just a few hours, even with a good setting powder. Normal and dry skinned folks might find it lasting longer.
The Physicians Formula Super CC Compact Cream contains SPF 30 which is pretty good and I consider this is to be the best part of the product. As with all Physicians Formula products, the Super CC Compact Cream is Hypoallergenic, Paraben Free, Oil Free, Gluten Free, Fragrance Free, Non-Comedogenic and Dermatologist approved.
