After my stint with the Maybelline Clear Glow BB Cream, I tried the latest launch by Maybelline – Clear Glow Compact. The SA had informed me when I had purchased the BB cream that Maybelline would be launching a compact/pressed powder in conjunction with the BB cream in their “Clear Glow” range. When it reached their counter, she called me to notify and I purchased it the very same day. I have been using this compact for the past week and I think I can put forth a review for your reference.
Firstly, I was completely awestruck/shell shocked   when the SA told me its price. She told me it’s for Rs. 175 only and I confirmed it at least 3-4 times. I was like “WOW,” this looks so good at just Rs. 175 bucks !! I wonder how Maybelline manages to shell out such decent products at fair prices. This compact is definitely good value for money.
I liked the compact’s packaging a lot in the first look. When Rati saw this for the first time, she called me up and told me that Maybelline has launched a new compact which has “Chanel pressed powder-like packaging” 😀 😀 😀
The packaging is indeed very neat and also a cute, girly pink one. It’s a light but sturdy plastic casing and comes with a built-in vanity mirror, compact pan and sponge applicator. The sponge looks fine, but I don’t use it as I prefer to use a puff for powder over sponges. On one side is placed the square-shaped compact pan and there is a separate slot which holds the sponge. The packaging is very sleek which makes it apt for travelling or carrying it around in your bag for touch ups.
The powder is fine and feels soft enough on the face; I mean you can’t really compare it with powders which high-end brands make, but considering the price that the product is offered at, I would definitely call it fairly nice. The powder has some light fragrance too which I think is not bothering.
I like that it gives a little more than light coverage to the face and how well it evens out my face. The compact has been made keeping in mind oily skin and gives matte effect. My skin is kind of dry in winters and I use moisturiser underneath this, so I can’t comment at the moment about its oil absorption and sweat-controlling properties. But whenever I have used this on my face, it never got greasy, sticky, and shiny even after a long time in the sun. I would suggest the compact only for combination to oily skin primarily. Girls who are blessed with dry-normal skin will need to moisturise heavily before using this.
Overall, it’s a very decent product and at the price I would consider it a steal. It has SPF 26 which is an added bonus! I have sensitive skin and I never saw that it gave me breakouts or any other allergic reaction. I would recommend it to oily-combination skinned girls.
Good job Maybelline
Shades Available are 5, that’s what the package mentions, but the SA showed me 4 and said only these would be reaching/coming to the counters 😐
I got the shade “Nude Beige 02” in it. The SA insisted that I should take/pick up shade 01, but I liked this one more as it has slight yellow undertone which I need/like for my skin tone. The shade looks dark in the pan but looks absolutely fine when I swatched it on my face. There is very little difference in shades 01 and 02 , so if you are like NC 15-20 in MAC, I would suggest you should try 01 = Ivory Beige.
INR 175 for 9 gms.
Enjoy the Pictures 🙂
