Hello lovely ladies,
Today, I review for you my first hair care product. Over the last couple of years (post the second pregnancy), I have been dealing with severe hair fall. So, I was asked to stop using Pantene/Dove/and the likes. Instead, I use a medicated shampoo. This also prompted my search for a conditioner – till then, I was using Pantene/Dove. Also, as a mom of toddlers, there is always paucity of time. So, I started looking for leave-in conditioners rather than something, which would need time to work and then be washed off. Hence, started my experiments with leave in conditioners.
Product Details (from the Website):
This conditioner for unruly hair stands up to defiant hair. It eliminates static while adding shine, balance, sun protection and texture for a smooth, healthy look. Apply Rusk Sensories Smoother Passionflower and Aloe Leave-in Smoothing Conditioner to towel-dried hair for day-long smoothing effects.
How To Apply:
Apply to clean, towel-dried hair. Do not rinse. Style as desired. Can be used daily.
INR 1200 / USA $14
My Experience with Rusk Sensories Smoother Anti-Frizz Leave-in Conditioner:
I came across this product in a store stocking imported bath and body products. There were very limited options for leave-in conditioners. I checked online and saw this product having exceptionally high rating in quite a few online sites. Suitably impressed, I decided to pick this up.
The product comes packaged in a transparent bottle. The product itself is thick and creamy peach colored. The dispenser is decent – it allows control on the amount of product being dispensed out. The product is heavily fragranced, it’s really quite pronounced. Though it does dissipate fairly quickly meaning your hair will not be smelling floral during the day, but it is very strong. For someone sensitive to fragrance, this is likely to be very off putting.
My hair type – I have long brown hair which is somewhat dry – they get more dry at the ends. The scalp is oily. By day 3-4, if I do not take a head wash, people are quite likely to think I have oiled my hair!
Coming back to the product, after washing my hair and gently towel drying (actually, I have started using a t-shirt instead of towel now) my hair, I apply the product to my hair length – avoiding close to the scalp. I tend to be extra generous while applying this to the tips.
The product makes the hair soft and smooth, adds a bit of shine. In terms of frizz control – it does work a little, but it’s not able to tame my hair fully. I don’t need to use a de-tangler like Livon. This works well for detangling my hair. The best part about the product is that it gets absorbed by the hair quickly. You do not feel any residue on hands or hair and it does not weigh down the hair AT ALL. I was always skeptical that a leave-in conditioner would weigh down my hair.
I feel this will work very well for normal hair. For hair, which is as dry as mine, I think I still need more nourishment from my product. I am not completely sold on this one. The ends of my hair – still felt dry, despite applying the product liberally on them.
Please note, this is a leave-in conditioner and will not work as protection for heat treatment like ironing, etc.
To sum this up for you:
Pros of Rusk Sensories Smoother Anti-Frizz Leave-in Conditioner:
- Makes hair soft and manageable.
- De-tangles hair effectively.
- Makes the hair feel softer.
- Does not control frizz effectively for extremely dry hair.
- Lightweight texture.
- Gets absorbed by the hair easily.
- Leaves no residue on the hands or the hair.
- Does not weigh hair down.
- Spreads easily.
- No need to wash off.
- Pleasant fragrance.
- Paraben free.
- Convenient packaging – travel friendly and leak proof.
Cons of Rusk Sensories Smoother Anti-Frizz Leave-in Conditioner:
- Heavy fragrance though it dissipates quickly.
- Not nourishing enough for extremely dry hair.
I think this is a good product, though may not be the best choice for hair that is extremely dry. It does perform on the parameters promised and does not feel heavy or sticky in the hair. I think it would work beautifully for hair which isn’t as dry as mine.
Would I Repurchase Rusk Sensories Smoother Anti-Frizz Leave-in Conditioner?
Probably not; while I will gladly consume what’s left of the product with me, I may not repurchase because I want a bit more nourishment for my hair.
