Today’s review is on Sephora Collection Ultra Shine Lip Gel “Pin-up-Pink.” This is my first pick from the range and revealing the mystery in the very beginning, my last one as well 😛 I am not a lip gloss person, but recently, new launches from various brands have tempted me 🙂
What it is: A lip gloss with a light-reflecting plumped shine inspired by gel nail polishes.
What it does: Ultra Shine Lip Gel transforms lips with a gel-effect formula for a light-reflecting, plumped shine. Its ultra-light, sensorial texture is also hydrating. This product is not tested on animals.
My Experience with Sephora Collection Pin-Up Pink Ultra Shine Lip Gel:
The Sephora Collection Ultra Shine Lip Gel range has 36 shades, divided into three finishes – High Shine Finish, Metallic Finish and Shimmer Finish. Every shade has a name as well as a number to it. My pick, “Pin-Up Pink” is numbered #17 and belongs to the “high shine finish” range. The packaging is a regular cylindrical and transparent gloss tube with silver cap, holding the uniquely shaped doe-foot applicator (which I will discuss later). I have no complaints with the packaging.
Rightly named as a lip gel, the formula is a liquid gel with ultra-light formula. Packed with loads and loads of hydration, it glides on like any other lip gloss on the lips and fulfills hydration demands of dry lips, especially in the fall season. It has a mild scent which doesn’t bother me and vanishes a few minutes after application.
“Pin-Up Pink” is a light baby pink shade is light with average pigmentation and will not help pigmented lips except for adding high shine of a clear lip gloss.
This lip gel is not sticky and doesn’t behave like a cheap lip gloss. So, where is the setback despite the acceptable formula, longevity and color payoff you may ask!
Those blessed with Barbie pink lips can rock this shade. However, Pin-up-pink will serve you good to convert your matte pink lipstick into a glossy one by adding a top coat without altering its shade much. The longevity is really poor with 2 hours of lasting power. It cannot withstand any meal or hot beverage intake (which is a must to survive the cold weather here :P). Lastly, the doe foot applicator is functionally designed and facilities easy and neat application.
Pros of Sephora Collection Pin-Up Pink Ultra Shine Lip Gel:
- High shine finish which can be used as a top coat to matte lipsticks.
- Lightweight on lips, comfortable and non-sticky formula.
- Very hydrating on lips.
Cons of Sephora Collection Pin-Up Pink Ultra Shine Lip Gel:
- Average pigmentation.
- Poor longevity.
- Not for pigmented lips.
- Doesn’t survive meals and beverage intake.
