SK-II (initially Secret Key) was developed by Japanese scientists during the 1970s. While observing workers at a sake brewery, they observed that elderly workers had wrinkled faces but their hands were smooth and younger-looking from years of submerging them in fermented yeast. This strain of naturally-occurring yeast was isolated for use.
SK-II is Procter and Gamble’s prestige line of skin care products in Asia. My friend works for Procter and Gamble in Singapore and she gifted me the employee bottle on her last visit.
An essence that helps to even out skin texture and reactivates dull skin to glow from within. With SK-II’s exclusive Aura Bright Cocktail EX, a combination of Pitera® and Pixel White.
$150 for 50 ml (The gift I received was a smaller version).
My Experience with SK-II Cellumination Essence EX:
The very thought that this is one of the most sought-after beauty brands already brought a glow on my face 😀 I couldn’t wait to test this magical potion. The essence is a liquid-y milky white product. It has a light and pleasant scent which was surprising because I was expecting some “fermented scent” owing to the yeast.
I decided to use this at night consistently. I washed my face with Cetaphil cleanser and took 2-3 drops of the Cellumination Essence EX and spread it all over my face from bottom to top. It spreads very easily owing to its runny texture. Within seconds, it was completely absorbed by the skin and my face didn’t look oily at all. My skin felt hydrated, plumped and dewy.
I have been using this for about 2 weeks now. I can see a considerable improvement in my skin texture, it is smoother and looks healthier. Along with the ingredients working at a cellular level, SK-II scientists decided that one of the factors that makes skin look good is the aura that is emitted from the skin. That is, how our eyes perceive light. There is a radiant glow to my skin which I owe to this factor. My pigmentation hasn’t improved much and I reckon that may require a couple of months of use because as the name suggests, this is more for an illuminating glow than for spot correction.
I would love to incorporate more of SK II products into my skin care regimen owing to such nice results from this. I just wished they weren’t oh-so-expensive!
Pros of SK-II Cellumination Essence EX:
- Spreads easily on skin.
- Gets absorbed fast.
- Doesn’t leave skin oily.
- Provides instant plumping to skin.
- Improved skin texture within 2 weeks.
- Imparts a healthy radiant glow to skin.
Cons of SK-II Cellumination Essence EX:
- Doesn’t work so much on pigmentation and dark spots.
Would I Repurchase SK-II Cellumination Essence EX?
