Step-by-Step Hair Tutorial – Casual Long Fishtail Braid

Hello, ladies!

During our busy schedule, we often get confused with our hair, and when we don’t have much time, then braid is the easiest hairstyle to go with. But, I am bored with the regular braid and wanted something different that is easy as well as looks pretty. The fishtail braid is one of the gorgeous options for daily as well as a party look. It definitely looks a little complicated, but if you know the technique it is super easy to create. It always turns out into a gorgeous elegant look that goes well with all the outfits. Today, I am going to share some easy steps that will help you to create this style. If you are a beginner like me, then it will be easy for you as well. This is actually my second try of braiding fishtail, and I love it. Now, let’s get into the tutorial.

Step 1:

First, you need to comb your hair smoothly and detangle the entire knots, and then decide where you want that braid. I prefer to do a side braid, so I did a side fishtail braid. As I wanted a casual look, so I left my bangs.

Step 2:

Next, you need to divide your hair into three even sections and initially create a normal 3-strand braid like, cross the left-hand section to the right-hand and cross the right-hand section to the left-hand. Do this one time and then start to do the fishtail. This normal braid helps to create a strong base and makes it easy to hold.

Step 3:

Now, mix all the 3 sections and again divide that into two even sections. I am giving them two names like, one is right section and another one is left section. Now, you have to take a thin strand from the extreme right of the right section and now, move that thin strand towards the left section across the right section. Mix that thin strand with your left section nicely and move your hands up to hold it strongly.

Step 4:

Next, again, pull a thin strand from the extreme left of the left section and pull that strand across the left section and move that towards the right section. Mix that strand with the right-hand section’s hair and again move your hands up to make a tight braid.

Step 5:

Keep alternating the sides or strands to repeat the step 3 and 4 until you reach the last section. Hold your braid strongly and secure the end with a black elastic.

Step 6:

Once you are done with your braid, then apply some hair setting spray over it. The setting spray gives a nice texture and helps to hold it for long.

Step 7:

To get a nice volume, lightly tug out the thin sections on your braid. If you have lots of layers, then you can skip this step. Now, you are done with your beautiful fishtail braid and you can use bobby pins to secure your sides.

Note: Make sure that you always take very thin sections and never make it loose. It will help you to achieve defined and even look.
