Don’t we all often get jealous of celebs and their gorgeous hairstyles? It’s quite difficult to decipher how their hair tends to look so perfect all the time! We all have tried a lot of ponytail and even puff hairstyles but they all end up being flat after a few hours. So today, I am going to share some secret tips and tricks for creating a celeb-like voluminous ponytail. Now let’s get started with the tutorial and find out more!
You will need:
• A backcombing brush
• A pointed tip comb
• A dry shampoo
• A setting or holding spray
• Some bobby pins and elastic bands
Step 1:
First, you need to brush your hair well and then apply some dry shampoo on your roots. I would suggest you to still use a dry shampoo even if you’ve just washed your hair. A good dry shampoo not only keeps your hair fresh, it adds some long-lasting volume, too.
Step 2:
Next, take the front section of your hair and back comb that section to create a little mess. Then, apply some setting spray on the back side of that section and keep it away. This trick helps to uplift the roots and also adds more volume.
Step 3:
Next, do the same trick with the next section from the front. Keep back combing and applying setting spray to lock the volume in.
Step 4:
After completing the entire front section of hair, start applying the same trick on the middle section and even on the sides. Make sure you always take a medium-thin section of hair for best results.
Step 5:
Once you are done with all the sections, lift your hair. Now gather your hair towards the back without parting your hair. Lightly place all the sections on your scalp and you will notice increased hair volume.
Step 6:
Next, pull all the sections towards the back and hold them with your hand.
Step 7:
Push it outwards. The more you push, the higher your puff will get. I went for a medium-sized puff.
Step 8:
Now, use two clips to secure the puff. You can use bobby pins too.
Step 9:
With a pointed end comb slightly push the roots upward to give a nice shape to your puff.
Step 10:
Next, use some holding spray to set your hairstyle perfectly.
Step 11:
If you want a more polished look you can lightly brush your hair. But, do this very lightly as you’ve already applied the setting spray. You can do this step before step 10.
Step 12:
Now to give that final look, tug your hair again and make it fluffier. Keep doing this step with the pointed end comb and try to create a higher puff.
Step 13:
You can stop here but adding a cute clip to your hair and letting your hair loose. Or, you can go for a ponytail.
Step 14:
To create a nice ponytail, gather the rest of your hair and make a simple ponytail.
Step 15:
Now, take a very thin section of hair and wrap it around the elastic to hide it. Then, secure it with a bobby pin.
Step 16:
To achieve some extra volume, backcomb your ponytail. Light brush the upper section to make your hair look more polished.
Here is my final look! Even though this look involves a lot of steps, you can create it within minutes. This is a perfect hairstyle for everyone. You can don it everyday, whether you’re going to college or just for a coffee date. Hope you like it. 🙂
