Hello everyone,

Tatcha products are the epitome of luxury.  Every time I go to Sephora, I can’t help googling their products for a good hour. Recently, I got my hands on Tatcha Gold Camillia Nourishing Lip Balm. Read on to know my thoughts on this product.

What it is formulated to do:  This ultra-hydrating lip balm contains hand-laid 24-karat gold leaf to add a touch of sensual, golden shimmer. Camellia oil and squalane penetrate deeply for lips that are supple and nourished. It is formulated without parabens, sulfates, phthalates.

My Experience with Tatcha Gold Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm:

Packaging:  If there is something Tatcha does right, it’s the way their products are packaged. Granted, you are paying more for a lot of extras which eventually end up in the trash, but you cannot deny the aesthetically pleasing aspect of it. Everything with Tatcha products is an experience in itself to savor. This lip balm comes in a beautiful tray which slides out of the box. The lip balm itself comes in gorgeous tub that one would proudly display on the vanity.

Texture and Formula:  The lip balm has a thin sheet of 24-karat oil foil. The sad thing about it is that since it is just a top layer, it will eventually disappear with use. The gold foil crumbles into tiny flecks when you swirl your finger and look nothing exciting; just like some random, barely visible golden specks on your lips.

The balm itself has a jelly (not the wobbly jello kind) like texture. It will thin out a bit with the heat of your body and spread to create a thick nourishing layer on your lips. It does not absorb too quickly but does not sit heavy on the lips like a gloss either. With this lip balm, you can truly feel that it’s working its magic. It has deeply hydrated, soothed my lips and healed my dry lips during the harsh winter days. It does not feel sticky at all.

The formula lasts a good amount of time on the lips, around 3-4 hours without eating or drinking and my lips feel smooth long after it has faded away. I don’t feel a constant need to reapply this lip balm. It has a very mild fruity scent which I find very refreshing.

Overall, this is quite an overpriced lip balm and frankly, there are cheaper alternatives which work just as well as this does. The gold sheet is a gimmick because it does nothing and barely lasts through three uses and is only there to look pretty, but the formula is a winner in my books with the deeply nourishing quality and non-sticky feel. You do have to accept that most of your money is going towards the extra but non-useful packaging. Considering all the above-mentioned points, I still have enjoyed this product with every use and cannot help but find this item worth the splurge.

  • Light, fruity scent.
  • Absolutely gorgeous packaging.

Cons of Tatcha Gold Camellia Nourishing Lip Balm:
