My Experience with The Balm Meet Matte Hughes Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick
I am a huge fan of The Balm Cosmetics. There rarely goes a day when I have not used something or the other in my makeup from the Balm. I am mostly a bullet lipstick person so I was not instantly excited when I got these liquid lipsticks. But the more I use them, the more I fall in love with these. 🙂
Let’s start with the packaging. The outer box is a cream cardboard carton with fun lettering and pictures. The handsome matte is ready to make the commitment and he is looking for a girl with great smile. 😀 The same fun pattern is pasted on the actual lipstick tubes as well. 🙂
There are 7 colors availble in the range. All of them are stunning.
- Adoring : A deep dark wine brown color.
- Sentimental : a dark reddish magenta color.
- Honest : pastel peach
- devoted : a shocking red
- Loyal : a warm brown with reddish undertones
- Charming : a soft n*dish brown
- Chivalrous : a cool toned pink
The packaging is fairly simple. These are a see through round tubes with a felt tip applicator. They make life a lot easier for storage. The felt tip has a little pointy edge and makes it prefect for getting the edges and a getting a sharper line.
These are suuuuuper matte lipsticks and give a velvetty matte effect once they dry on lips. They don’t settle in fine lines and they are verry long lasting. i mean these don’t budge at all even after full meals. 😛 Most darker shades have stayed on for until I have removed them after 7-8 hours. While the lighter shades have stayed for 5-6 hours before I’d feel the need for a re-application.
These lipsticks are insanely pigmented. One swipe and you have a bang on color on lips.
These go on evenly on lips but some of the lighter shades (honest, chivalrous) went of streaky and they needed a bit of work of smoothening out. But once you smoothem them out, these look stunning on lips.
They feel almost nothing on lips. As if someone has painted your lips. 😀
My favourite way to apply these lipsticks are – apply first coat and let it dry for 10-15 seconds. then apply the second coat. This way you get the most even application and super pigmented color.
These have a little minty flavour to these and give a little cooling effect on application. These feel slightly sticky while the lipstick is still drying but nothing once it dries completely.
These don’t smudge, smear or transfer. They just stay on and on! But give a good scrub to your lips before applying these because just like all matte lipsticks they’d easily show the flaws on your lips.
Highly recommended. Love each one of these. The darker shades are favourite of mine esp the reds and the pinks. 😀
