Hi Everyone, π
When you have gazillion beautiful lipsticks to choose from from your collection, it is hard to take just 4 lipsticks with you on a half-a-month trip. But this time I just decided to take a dip and see if I could survive with just 4 lipsticks for so many days. Well, with teeny bit of a cheating (I used my new lipstick for a day in Paris. :P) I really survived on just these 4 shades. And it felt awesome. I am sharing a few tricks with you. Hope some of you find them helpful. π
So I decided to take 4 basic shades – a bight pink, a red, a bright orange and a neutral lips colors with me. Then I decided to mix and match .

So basically I had these 4 lipsticks + 5 more lipsticks shades with a little tweak here and there. π
Hot pink + Neural lip color – I mixed the two for days when I wanted a soft pink or my MLBB shade. I had to use a bit of lip balm to get a good finish with this combination because Tarte lipstick is super matte and it was a little hard to mix. Lip balm did the trick. But if you are carrying creamy lipsticks with you, mixing should not be a problem. Just apply one lipstick on top of the other and wipe the top of lipsticks with a tissue.
A bright Orange with neutral : For soft coral lip color I mixed an orange with neutral and a lip balm. π
Red + Hot Pink : For a carroty pink shade I mixed a red and a bright pink. No lip balm was needed here since both the lipsticks are quite creamy and blended well with each other.
Hot Pink + Orange : For a shocking coral shade such as MAC impassioned, I mixed these two and the result was a fab deep coral color.
You may mix these three also for a toned down coraly pink shade. π

If you are a gloss person, you just have to carry one neutral gloss and a single gloss would work for all your lip colors. Would save you some space. π
So how many lipsticks do you carry with you when you travel? πΒ

Hi Rati thats fantastic
when I travelled to US for 20 days ,I carried only 2 lipsticks
and towards my trip I did shop in NYC so I cheated a bit …otherwise it was just 2 lipsticks π
U have done a good job as well π
I would have not been able to survive with just 2 lipsticks for sure. π Kudos to you! π
Deciding on lipsticks is the most difficult part of my packing π π *jalwa* …great post will surely try this on my next trip *hifive* . This will surely save me loads of time. *duh* *happy dance* *happy dance* *happy dance* *happy dance*
so glad. thank you π
Wow great tips Rati. So what r u waiting for? You realized you only need those four. Distribute the rest among your readers na π I am sure even if you give one each to all your readers, you will be left with a bunch of them still *powder* *hihi*
On another note..been through all your latest trip posts in Faux pas and you are definitely high end fashion material Rati..you look superb in all the outfits and styled them really well. And those bags..Mann!! They are all fab!! Sanjeev’s photos are awesome as usual. I said it before..you both make a rocking team together!! You look so good Rati that it makes me proud when you visit abroad that you are representing us Indians. Seriously, Indians really score a bit low on the fashion scale abroad and it feels awesome that when people come across girls like you in abroad, they realize we are fashion forward too and have good taste in clothes, shoes and bags as well. *clap*
that is really sweet of you to say that tanvi. π Paris was a city of fashion and I guess next time around I would love to go all out. i’d always remember you comment. Thanks a ton!! :))
Brilliant idea, Rati! You can get almost any color you could ever want by mixing and matching! Thank you for the cool idea! π
i know it was great experimenting with lipsticks this time around. π

Wow Rati… U hav become a ysl fan i can see… And ur mixing techniques… Reminds me of my childhood psinting lessons where we used to mix so many colors
i am wondering if i have shown them way too much since i bought them . loll!! I come from a painting background so guess subconsciously this is coming from there only. π
I am definitely taking these tips handy for my upcoming trip.. Motivated to take only minimum count of make up like urs yayy.. *happydance* *happydance* my hubby gonna thank u for this tip telling you.. *hihi* And I so agree wid gal above that u r certainly breaking stereotype thoughts of everyone abt we indians by giving all of them rather tough competition in every grooming and make over field.. *haan ji* *oye balle* *oye balle* *jai ho* No wonder, we will soon welcome secret imbb and Indian beauty admirers from all over world.. *clap* *clap* *clap*
Excellent tips Rati. Saves *clap* a lot of space. I had just finished experimenting with two lip glosses for my upcoming trip. I had always liked the idea of mixing two to get ur customized color. Only I thought the touch ups would be a bit difficult coz u had to apply two instead of one and you might not get the exact color each time. So I mixed Maybelline lip polish glam 14(bit light) and glam12(bit bright) and got a peculiar color. *hihi* Like rose red with brown undertones. *hihi* Stored in an empty gloss tube
Don’t deprive us of your pretty lip swatches Rati… *waaa* I’m sure you looked stunning in all of them! Haven’t used any Yves lipsticks till now… I think I should get one now… *jogging*
Oops! I meant YSL lipsticks… *headbang*
