Hie Rati,

How are you ?? I follow you on instragram and I really like the way of your dressing, your make up. Overall, I really admire you and really want you to keep growing like this in your life.  Actually, I want to ask something through the “Ask IMBB” section.  How can I make myself look good as my complexion is dark.  As our society likes fair girls, please help me, I really need your help.

  1. Dear komal it really doesnt matter if u have a fair complexion or a dark complexion what matters is having healthy skin 🙂 trust me dusky is sexy *puchhi* *powder*

  2. Hey, even I am not “fair” by Indian standards, I am “dusky” I suppose, which in all parts of the world qualifies as a medium complexion.

Anyways, I don’t think you should strive to look “fair”, be proud of the skin color you have, and look the best version of yourself.

Follow a CTM routine regularly without fail, use face packs, like fruit face pack to get rid of tanning, and yougurt-oatmeal or lemon-honey-sugar scrub for even complexion. Use aloe vera gel for multiple benefits.

Apply sunscreen daily so that your skin isn’t damaged,or cover with a scarf or dupatta.

I believe brown skin looks really good and we have the added advantage of melanin that protects us from the sun.
    Cheers! 🙂

  3. Hi Komal. I have a wheatish complexion *haan ji* and there was a time when even i wanted to look fair (because of the same reason as yours “Social Pressure *waaa* “) and tried many things but to no avail *hunterwali* . My advice to you is stay away from fairness creams *scared* because they give temporary fairness and in some cases (like mine) damage your skin badly. Your skin may not be sensitive but it may become sensitive because of the prolonged use of such creams *haan ji* (although it may work for some). Try homemade remedies (you can get a huuuuuge list on IMBB *happy dance* *happy dance* ), scrub twice or thrice a month depending on your skin type, CTM routine is a must. Just recently i started including an oil-free moisturiser (Neutrogena), i never used one because i have an oily skin and thought its not necessary for me. But believe me my skin is glowing since using it *happydance* *happydance* . I even recommended that to my mom and it worked on her as well. It does not make my skin fair but imparts a glow, the glow of a healthy skin. 🙂 Sorry for the long comment but i really wanted to share my experience with you just to help you. *puchhi* Don’t give a D*mn about this society, love yourself. 🙂 Whether I do makeup or wear nice clothes with a nice hair-do, I do it for myself because “main apni favourite hoon” 😀

  4. Naaz, gal I am soo proud of you… Hey Komal its not abt the skin color its always about How we see ourselves, please dnt go by the society standards. Rest for enhancing your beauty you have IMBB.. Swty never ever allow anyone *nonono* *nonono* to hurt you Be a strong willed girl *duel* because you have in you the most beautiful thing thats YOU urself. *preen* .

  5. Hey I think u shud maintain healthy skin its not important about ur complexion ..u should be proud of ur skin ..even light skin comes with its set of problems (trust me ) and i find duskier and wheatish girls much more prettier than light skintones . i do have fair skin but i dnt boast about it . sometimes i feel like a vampire (though i have anaemia) *hunterwali* I know its our indian society and jst dont give a heck to them . u shud love urself .. *puchhi* U noe evn in other countries people try fake tans to become duskier and spend lots of money of them ..we indians have that natural beauty and we should be happy with that *woot* *whistle* . And Naz such an awsum comment ..main apni fav hu 😛

  6. Hello Komal 🙂 As Jomol says, hvng a clear complexion is the ultimate point than havng a fair tone. Look at stars like deepika, bipasha, etc thy r not fair. thy r dusky. Having a dusky complexion is a GOD’s gift. I know Indian’s are behind ‘fair skin/complexion’. But the ultimate point is how CONFIDENT u r in ur real skin rather than in temporary fairness. Let me tell u my part of the story. I was the youngest of 3 siblings, my sis n bro were blessed wid fair tone. It kinda irritates me cuz most of the tym i used to feel low n think tht I am ugly. And puberty added up to my irritation, my facial skin broke out like hell.. this continued fr years, i never took care of it as I was vry shy. But aftr a few yrs i realized tht beauty is inside u, wht u see outside is jus ur apperance. u need to be bold, confident and true to urself to luk beautiful. Dont ever think of wht ppl say abt ur skin tone. Keep reading personality dev books, thy help u feel confident n comfortable.

u can follow a few steps n luk grt wid ur skin- keep ur skin healthy, eat healthy, avoid oily r junk fud, u can cheat once a week or twice a mnth :). excersice thrice a week, running will relive not only calories but all ur tensions/worries. Don’t jus sit at home, go out explore things. if u cant find a btr thng to do, go fr shopping. Try clothes which u never thought u wud fit in/luk gud in. Thts alright, no one knows u in the store n no one can see u in trail room. Wear them n take ur selfie, see hw it feels :).

Other than that- use a gud moisturizer (i use ponds age miracle, this worked wonders fr my facial skin), sunscreen, follow CTM routine evryday, scrub ur face twice a week, indulge in home made face masks thrice a week, get a facial done at a gud salon once in 2 r 3 mnths, avoid harsh chemicals like bleaching etc on skin, spend tym wid ur skin to understnd hw it works fr difrnt products and discover ur best products. use 2 r 3 types of shower gels- bath with each of thm evry alternate day , this will make u feel gud. use a gud perfume. have all the basic makeup thngs- kjal, lip balm, 2 r 3 best suited lippes, 2 blushes, mascara, gud foundation n compact. Make a habit of using makeup whn u go out, but be minimal… this will make u confident frm inside.

Being a woman and taking care of urself is a grt deal. Dont expect miracles to happen in 1 r 2 mnths. Gud luck 🙂

  7. Hi, Komal! I do understand the pressure you are talking about but i think that you shouldn’t pay heed to what people are saying. Try to maintain a healthy skin instead of wanting a fair skintone as nothing compares to the glow that comes from within.
Follow the CTM routine religiously. Scrub once or twice a week tops. For glowing skin you can try this- Dry turmericin the Sun and make a powder of it. Mix this powder with milk cream and besan and use it thrice a week. Use sunscreen for sun protection. Drink lots of water. Sleep well. Eat fresh fruits and veggies. And most of all, be happy. I will work wonders for your skin. 🙂

  8. Prefer glowing and Healthy skin over fair skin :):)
For glowing skin, massage kukumadi oil and leave it over night. It helps to impart natural glow and reduces tan and spots.. and twice a week use saffron curd face pack mentioned above..

  9. hello … can anyone give me the email id where we need to send the query / question… *thankyou* *thankyou* *thankyou* *thankyou*
