Valentine’s Day Soft Pinks With Bourjois Smokey Eye Trio

Bourjois Smokey Eye Trio : Valentine’s Day Soft Pinks Makeup

Before leaving for my trip, I tried this fun look for the Valentine’s day. I don’t know whether I have mentioned this before that I could not pull off pink eye shadows. Well! now I can. πŸ˜‰ I can say thanks to the Bourjois eye shadows. Also, now that I am getting better with my makeup skills (imo :P), I kind of tweak with stuff and make a lot of things work for me these days.

Bourjois Smokey Eyes trio: These are powder eyeshadows. They are not very pigmented but they are buildable. The Bourjois smokey trio would help you achieve soft smokey eyes as opposed to the typical bold smokey eyes. I like the shadows for their softness because I am still getting used to the bold eyeshadow looks. I pull off the boldest of eyeliners but I am taking my own sweet time with eye shadows. The eye shadows are not at all chalky.

These shadows might be disappointing for people who are used to using very pigmented eye shadows. But these eye shadows would work fab for office wear or formal where where you want some soft colour on your eyes without making it too evident. Me love them! πŸ™‚

Regarding Pink Eyeshadows: What I noticed is that pink eye shadows don’t come up with their full vibrancy if you don’t give them a pink base -a pink cream eyeshadow or pink eye gloss. Some of the recommendations would be Revlon’s illuminance creme in Pink Petals/MAC paint pot in Fresco Rose. (If you have any recommendations, do let me know). I didn’t have any of these while I was doing the look but I might just pick up a pink cream based shadow for future purposes.

I didn’t use the lightest pink from the trio because it was making me look ill again.

I would love to know your recommendations and suggestions. Also, do try out the pink look and let me know how it worked for you. πŸ™‚

love the packaging of these trios but ua review made me realise I dun need it πŸ™‚
em more into pigmented stuff .. it nevertheless looks great on yu πŸ™‚

I always use a cream blush as a base for pink shadows :))
to prevent creasing set it with a translucent powder πŸ™‚

    me loves πŸ™‚
I also discovered an eyeshadow base in medium range cosmetics , some german brand beyu , it makes an eyeshadow base(courtesy :- BEAUTY TRAVELLER) and easily available where I live , buh refraining from getting one , as I dont wear shadows so often
    maybe yu can try it
    tc πŸ™‚

  4. Cream blush is a great idea but darn ! i don’t have a single cream blush as well. πŸ˜› I will look for beyu at Kunchal’s they have all these international brands. let me see. πŸ™‚

  6. U look so cute in the pic. Me like the Bourjois trio…I’m getting some today finally. The L’Oreal Illuminanace are quite nice. I also like Forever Eyes cream eyeshadow in Wild Rose by Oriflame

  7. hehe , no . no plans as of yet πŸ˜€

buh em having my farewell and conti on 13th , so pretty excited for that !!
have to wear a saree for da farewell then will change to a cocktail dress
    pretty excited πŸ˜€
will ask yu for some sari tips πŸ˜‰

  8. You look very cute & sweet in the full pic.. πŸ˜€

I cannot carry off pink eyeshadows . and actually I don’t like them (case of sour grapes?? :D) , coz i think my entire face seems pink as I have pink undertones to my skin. My cheeks are naturally flushed pink most of the time, and my lips are pigmented a deep tea rose pink.

But those who can carry it off like you did in the pic – look very fresh and natural :). The blush also looks really gr8 on you πŸ˜€

Like Palak, I too desire deeper color payoff and am a little obsessed with taupe, eggplant and charcoal shades in eyeshadows.

Gr8 review! I really enjoyed reading it πŸ˜€

  9. Piya, I promise I would show more pics in future. Just that I am travelling these days so i am trying to blog with whatever possible stuff I have. I have not used all lipsticks by Colorbar but I have used the soft touch lippies and I like them a lot. Especially I am very fond of the texture. πŸ™‚ WHich ones did you buy?

  10. I remember I was so excited about me wearing saree on farewell. My farewell date 02/02/02 so it was like THE date. Have lots of fun and do share some of the piccies. πŸ™‚

  11. HEY !just a small request .. I wd be wearing a knee length dress to the party .. and I really want that sexy bronzed look on my legs .. can you advice something for that ??other than tanning ofcorz πŸ˜€

  12. hehe , same here !!
    so damn excited πŸ˜€

mine is a light green net , 2-3 inches wide pink border and some delish thread work
n offcorz I will be posting da pics πŸ™‚

do tell me which kind of make up will be appropriate with saree .. I dont trust dose parlor walis πŸ˜€

  13. Tanveer, pinks are so difficult to pull off especially for very fair people and exactly for the same reasons you stated.

I also kind of liked the look because all these pinks were giving me fresh morning kind of look. πŸ™‚

    Glad you liked it. πŸ™‚

  14. Okay 3 recos: Colorbar has this body shimmer

Not sure of that would give you a bronzed look but would give a nice sheen to your legs and you already have this awesome wheatish complexion so this might look great.

    2. You can check out the bronzing beads from the Body Shop. People rave about them. I wanted to buy them but I was kind of guilty because I already have some bronzing stuff in my kitty. πŸ˜› You can use them with a kabuki brush.

    3. Lakme also has this :

Sunkissed might be a great colour.

But you know how lakme is…

Another thing that I would say is that you moisturize your legs generously with the moisturizer becasue you know how the weather is these days. Or may be carry a tiny bottle of moisturizer with you in your purse.

  15. ROFL @ lakme !!

act I have some bronzing beads by oriflmae in my kitty πŸ˜€
    might use them
ya know , 2 years back m mum lost her suitcase at airport .. there she lost her cosmetic bag , jewelery and saris .. it also had the lakme face sheer πŸ˜€
I found it 2 sparkly , once tried using it as highlighter and darn .. ended up lukin like a disco ball
    face sheer = yuk !
I was thinkin of using a body lotion mixed with some cocoa butter and some bronzer jmixed with it , wot say ?
yup , I have wheatish complexion buh my legs are significantly lighter .. so was little partial to bronzing πŸ˜€

  16. Yes, that’s what I just updated about moisturization. The skin on the legs might get dry because of the weather. I think what you are saying is a great idea. But I would say is that you try it out once before and you would know what to correct where. I just hope all this mixed doesn’t make it too sticky and hance result in uneven bronzing. Just try it out.

And so sorry for mum. It”s so bugging when you loose stuff especially clothes and makeup. πŸ™

  17. Yes , since then , she doesnt invest in make up and gime a nudge wen I go gaga over these stuffs , her only gripe is the chanel perfume she lost , she heart that :/
dun wry , she got another for her soon after
    she’s a major perfume buff
strange enuf , I neva get attracted to perfumes !!

yup , will try it before , dont want that excess moisture to be all ova the seat covers πŸ˜€

  18. hey , I just sent yu da mail , sorry for the uneven pics , I hhave no idea how to click dese saree pics … I didnt even fold it properly :/
dun mind .. I clicked them just after yu askd for it !!

  19. I know what ha jhatka it was. Your mom is quite fond of make up I see. πŸ˜›

It’s okay let me just see the pics and will reply to you by night. Don’t worry about the folds, I get confused myself with all the folding of saree. πŸ˜€

  20. That looks so feminine and soft on your eye :O Nice job!

Ugh, the pink palette is the only one I don’t have – I was afraid to buy, because pink tones sometimes look too similar to having red and irritated eyes… At least on my skin.

BTW, have you tried applying the shadow with a smaller, bristle brush? I noticed that Bourjois tends to appear not pigmented if applied with a typical eye-shadow brush. But when I applied it with a small, slightly harder brush, it came on perfectly and intensely, ever without adding water or priming the lid with color.

  21. HI AngmoGirl.

Thanks. Yes I did apply with dense and slightly harder brush or else the colour didn’t show. I read smewhere that they work with sponge applicators, I am yet to try that. Will do that with my next trio and see how it works. πŸ™‚

Yes, pinks are not for everyone but you could always give thema try and see. πŸ™‚

    Welcome to my blog. πŸ™‚

  22. hi, thanks for ur reply rati…

i have bought colorbar softtouch lipsticks in coffee and 21 shade named seduction
and also colorbar blusher 006 i.e Trace Gold
i liked all of this but i dont knw how to use blusher, i bought it 1sy time but its good n suits me also…

    take care

  23. Hi Rati,

Nice post about the V day look..And you definitely look cute and sooo different from the blush turorial pics. Btw, is the Lakme Eye Artist available in retail market now.
If so, I definitely need to write to Lakme about the misleading info being provided by their SA’s even in shops like Shoppers Stop, Health n Glow etc. They say that the product is completely stopped and likely to be available”perhaps” by April 2010..

Do let me know where in Del its available.Probably, I can get it on my next visit.

  24. Hi Poornima,

I bought mine from a local retail shop in Greater Kailash M Block Market here but it is definitely available in Shopper’s Stop. Can’t say if they have stopped it in past 15 days. These SAs always piss me off. They come with their own info about stuff and hence mislead the customers.

The Lakme’s Eye Artist is nice. I look different because in my blush tutorial I was all traditionally dressed up and was kind of tired from the entire day’s roaming around. πŸ™‚
    Thanks. πŸ™‚

  25. Thank you so much for the info Rati. And yes I too agree about the misleading info given to customers.

Today another one shocked me by saying that “Jewel Sindoor” is also a discontinued product..God!!Anyways, I don’t take it 100%..

  26. Oh my!! let me just visit a store in a day or two and I will let you know. As it is I have to buy another tube of my sindhoor, it would get clear. πŸ™‚
