YSL is one of my favourite luxury makeup brands. They recently released a new lipstick formula by the name YSL Tatouage Couture which is a mix between a liquid lipstick and a lip stain. I have already reviewed the shade “Coral Anti Mainstream” on IMBB previously. Today, I will be reviewing the shade “Nude Emblem.” This shade is so popular that it’s always sold out in Sephora. So, come let’s see how this liquid lipstick fared for me.

My Experience with YSL Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain Nude Emblem 16:
Packaging: The packaging of YSL Tatouage Couture lip stain screams “luxury.” The lip stain comes in a frosted tube with a golden cap. The cap has the YSL logo embedded in it. You can see the shade of the lipstick through the frosted tube. The lip stain comes in a metallic gold cardboard packaging which specifies the name and the ingredient list. The name “Nude Emblem” is mentioned at the bottom of the box. The applicator of this lip stain is very unique, it’s in the shape of an angled spatula brush. The tip of the applicator allows me to line the lips easily and the side of the applicator allows me to easily fill in the lips. The black plastic piece at the centre of the applicator has the YSL logo engraved on it. Now that’s what I call meticulous designing. The packaging is not heavy, but not very lightweight either. It has got a good weight to it, which you obviously expect from a luxury brand. Overall, I really love the packaging of this lip stain and the applicator is really an innovative twist.
Texture and Application: The texture of the lip stain is watery yet it has a bit of silky consistency to it. Well, the second ingredient in this lip stain is dimenthicone, so that explains the texture. The lip stain is saturated with vibrant colour. The application is pretty breezy with the angled applicator. However, the applicator doesn’t pick up a lot of product, so you have to go over the lips a couple of times to get good coverage.
Pigmentation and Coverage: The lip stain is not super opaque. You do need to apply the lip stain two to three times to get a full coverage. However, the lip stain is not patchy. You just need to swipe the lip stain multiple times to get an even coverage.
Shade and Finish: The shade is described as a “terracotta pink” and it is indeed a very beautiful warm pinkish brown shade. The lip colour is a perfect everyday shade. This colour is an everyday n*de lip shade. When you first apply the lip stain, it is very watery like any stain; however, within 5 minutes, it dries completely matte and doesn’t transfer and sticks on the lips like a tattoo. The lip stain is extremely comfortable even if it dries down to matte finish.
Staying Power: The staying power is really good with this lip stain. It stays on for around 7 to 8 hours without the need to reapply. If you eat oily meal, you will see fading. However, the lip stain leaves a beautiful stain behind even if the lipstick fades. The lipstick can be easily removed with an oil-based makeup remover. Overall, I am really happy with the colour payoff, the texture and the longevity of the lip stain. This is how a liquid lipstick should feel.
