Zoeva Strobe Gel Aureole Review

I love Zoeva products. They are of good quality, well packaged and also quite affordable. The strobe gel is totally new for me and it’s available in three shades. I got all three of them hoping to use them on different occasions. Here is the review of the shade ‘Aureole’.

Glowing from within, the ZOEVA Strobe Gel Aureole was designed to add incandescent beams of light to the complexion with a gold shimmering, pearlescent formula for medium and olive to dark skin types.

The unique, memory shape gel texture captures and diffuses the surrounding light, imparting a luminescent shimmer and leaving the skin with a natural, translucent finish and a light diffused 3D effect. Melting into the skin, the moisturizing lightweight formula can be layered for varying levels of intensity – from a natural-looking, sheer glow to intense strobing highlights for dramatic evening looks.

The formulation of the gel is enriched with vitamin E and is 100% free of animal-derived ingredients, fragrances, mineral oils, parabens and phthalates. Made in Italy.

My Experience with Zoeva Strobe Gel Aureole:

The strobe gel comes in a black cardboard packaging. Inside it is a cute little transparent pot with a black screw lid top. The shade of the product is visible from the bottom of the pot. The product has a lifetime of 12 months.

The product is gel in consistency. One can just pick up a little product with a finger or a brush and then apply to the high points of the face and also on the collarbone. The best thing is that the gel in the pot gets back to its shape after digging out the product. There are no dents formed. This looks cool and clean every time you open the product to use.

The product, when used on the skin, creates a slight cooling effect. The color ‘Aureole’ is a golden shade targeted to darker skin tones. I feel this color looks a little too strong for Indian skin tones. But this shade makes a good eyeshadow and can be used to add a little sparkle to the eyelids. It might look good as a highlighter if you are a dusky beauty.

The product does not shift or slide over time. It stays put for around 5 hours or so. After 5 hours or so it fades slightly but the effect is not completely gone. If you are indoors the product lasts longer. When applying over the skin, it kind of sticks to the skin. It sticks if not spread well and it dries pretty quick too, so you have to be quick during application.

Also, it’s best to apply this gel with a brush. I have used it over a foundation with powder on top and it didn’t turn out great. You can layer it for a starker effect but I feel it looks artificial that way. But I am new to highlighters and strobing. Overall, it’s a good product, which can be used on the cheekbones, brow bones, the tip of your nose, cupid’s bow, collarbone etc.
