Dior Bronze Protection Solaire SPF 50 Review

Dior Bronze Protection Solaire SPF 50 Review

Hello my lovelies,

How are you all today? I am going to be reviewing for you all another product, it is the Dior Bronze Protection Solaire. I bought this product on a trip to Italy and as you all know I am a big fan of the sun and sea, and I am a even bigger fan of keeping my skin thoroughly protected. Trust me ladies, you need to be on your toes to keep your skin protected from the harsh rays of the sun, for the long run. When I was younger, I never understood the importance of my mother forcing me to apply sunscreen before I jumped in the pool, and I would cry my eyes out when I had to wait for 20 minutes till I could swim, since the product had to work on my skin. She would always tell me, “you will thank me later” and yes mother, I do thank you now for being so rationally strict with me and my sisters. Our skins are in a great condition because of you! I cannot stress to you the importance of sunscreen on your skin! It needs to be applied every time you step out of the house, to have younger rejuvenated looking skin in the future as well.

My Experience with Dior Bronze Protection Solaire SPF 50:

It comes in a stunning golden squeeze tube with a brown flip flop cover, the overall look of the tube is extremely lush. I think the packaging compliments the golden bronze tan we acquire after sun bathing or being under the sun.  Its packaging is lovely and extremely travel friendly and there is no fear of leakage as such, due the sturdy cap on top. You can carry it around on a regular basis, with extreme ease.

It has a really great fragrance to it, like all Dior products, it too smells like beautiful flowers and seems very luxurious. Its aroma is light and is not overpowering, but the best advantage of this sunscreen is that it does not smell anything like a sunscreen. On application, you actually feel like you are just applying a face cream on your face. I am aware that some people do not like strongly fragranced products on their face and I am one of them, since I feel that the perfume in them breaks me out. However, I have been lucky with it so far, I have had no irritation on my face or any sort of break outs. And mind you, I have REALLY sensitive skin, and I am extremely careful about what goes on my skin. So as a personal opinion, the sunscreen has been oh so gracious to my usually irritable skin.  It’s a white-coloured sun protectant and feels a bit thick. However, the cream itself is extremely lightweight on the skin and does not feel greasy or make you look caked with shiny oil, compared to some of the sunscreens I have used in the past. My skin felt extremely hydrated and moisturised after I applied the cream, but that feeling was only temporarily sadly. So, I was rather disappointed there.
Dior Bronze Protection Solaire SPF 50

Okay, that’s how it looks and feels on the skin, so let’s talk about how it is as a sun protectant. It has a really strong SPF, it claims to be a high 50. It is a good sunscreen, but I don’t think it is enough to protect you with those harsh ultraviolet rays when you are directly under the sun for long hours. Because it is a luxury brand, it has more focus on the fragrance of the product rather than its formula as a sun protectant. So, I usually don’t wear it when I am on a beach holiday, where I know that I am going to be spending literally hours under the sun and in the pool. Since it would not give me the protection I actually desire, I actually prefer using my Clarins Sunscreen since it is an actual skin care product and targets our UV ray concerns more efficiently. I personally use this when I know I am not going to be under the sun directly for long hours, like while going shopping or to college or for lunch. Dior cosmetics are great to use, but I actually prefer their lipsticks, mascaras and other face makeup more appealing compared to their skin care products. I just think I have this psychological issue, but having experienced the effects with this sunscreen, my mind is pretty much made up now.

Dior Bronze Protection Solaire SPF 50

Overall, it’s a decent product, it smells lovely and does not feel greasy on the face, but in my opinion, it cannot be used when you are lounging under the sun for long hours. You might want to go for another more effective product that is meant solely for protecting your skin because that is my main priority while I sun bathe.

Pros of Dior Bronze Protection Solaire SPF 50:

  • Smells lovely! Like pretty flowers, but is not overpowering at all and is just right.
  • Does not make your skin look greasy and is extremely lightweight upon application.
  • Did not break me out at all.
  • The packaging is gorgeous and absolutely luxurious.

Cons of Dior Bronze Protection Solaire SPF 50:

  • Despite it being of such a high SPF, it cannot be exactly used to protect your skin when you are directly under the sun.
  • Availability in India.
  • It is quite expensive.

Would I Repurchase Dior Bronze Protection Solaire SPF 50?

Probably not, I am very content with my Clarins sunscreen and consider it to be highly effective for my skin. So, this one will mostly be a miss! (But this does not stop me from purchasing other gorgeous Dior products :P).

Would I Repurchase Dior Bronze Protection Solaire SPF 50?

In my opinion, there are several other brands that will provide you with a similar service at a much cheaper and economical price. So you might just want to purchase that.
