Lotus Herbals Intensive Sunblock Spray with SPF 50 Review

Gurls, HD is here :)- Rati.

Lotus Herbals Intensive Sunblock spray with SPF 50, UVA Index 16

This one is for you Sush. 🙂

I was looking for a sunscreen with 30+ SPF and based on the various positive feedback I had heard about Lotus sunscreens, I straightaway went to the Lotus counter. The SA showed me this one and the other cream sunscreens and since cream is what I had used until now I decided to give the spray one a shot and I am so glad I did that.

What it claims : This easy to use fine mist spray offers quick protection from UVA & UVB rays. It provides Broad-Spectrum UVA & UVB protection. It is a non-greasy formula that absorbs quickly providing a fresh and clean feel. Suitable for all skin types. Lotus Herbals Intensive Sunblock spray with SPF 50

Ingredients : Contains active herbal extracts of

  • Sage : Natural Sunscreen
  • Chamomile : Moisturising
  • Thyme : Protects from environmental damage

How to use : Lotus Herbals Intensive Sunblock spray SPF 50 Spray directly on all exposed parts of the body (hands, legs, neck) before exposure to sun. Spray into hand and apply on face. Reapply frequently.

Price : Rs. 195 for 80 ml. I got it at a discounted price of Rs. 150 at the beauty store near my place.

What I like about Lotus Herbals Intensive Sunblock Spray SPF 50

  • The bottle mentions that it is sweat and water proof. I have not really experienced whether it is water proof but it definitely is sweat proof. The biggest problem everyone of us faces with sunscreens is that it is extremely oily after application and this sunscreen is absolutely not that. It quickly absorbs into the skin and does not leave any oily or sweaty feeling behind.
  • The consistency is very runny which I like since its much more convenient to apply compared to a cream
  • It does not leave a whitish cast like some of the other sunscreens.

Lotus Herbals Intensive Sunblock spray SPF 50 swatch

  • It has SPF 50 which is kind of required for the kind of summers we face.
  • This comes in a spray format unlike other sunscreens which come in tubes or bottles, much more easier to use.
  • The cap fits on very nicely so it is very easy to carry around in your purse.
  • Reasonably priced. Quantity is also good. This bottle lasted me for exactly 2 months.
  • I don’t feel the need to use a moisturizer after using this on my body, I find it moisturizing enough.
  • Cant really describe the fragrance but it smells kind of fresh and not something I am disliking.

What I dislike about the sunblock spray

  • It does not list the complete ingredient list.

Other than this I cannot find anything wrong with this product and by looking at the long list of what I like and just 1 point under what I dislike I am sure you must have realized by now how much I love this sunscreen. My current bottle is almost about to get over and just to try some other sunscreen I bought the Blossom Kochhar Sunblock with SPF 50 which I have been using since Tuesday and until now if I have to compare, ,my vote definitely without any second thoughts goes to Lotus.

Rating : :-* :-*:-*:-*:-*

Would I recommend this to others and re-purchase for myself : Most definitely YES!!

  1. Hello HD,

    Seema

  2. Hey HD,

You know I thought this was SPF 30 spray and I was hunting for spf 30. I got confused between spf 30 and 50 and that is why I used to tell you that i couldn’t locate it. Have seen this may times. 🙁 Now I am going to pick it up for sure. Using Lotus spf 30 one right now and loving it. I can apply it even on top of my makeup without feeling greasy or oily.

Can’t wait to get hold of it soon. 😛

    Thanks, Seema. 🙂

  3. Hi Rati,
A nice review as usual. From your review the sunscreen sounds very interesting and it seems that it would be very easy to use this since it is in a spray form. The only thing that holds me from buying and using this sunscreen is the fact that Lotus products never suited me much.

    1. No worries RS….you know this is the first time I am hearing someone give a negative review abt Lotus….most of my friends (all of whom have different skin types and different kinds of travel etc) use Lotus sunscreens and they suit everyone…

Yes it is very easy to use because of the spray and its runny consistency….

  4. Hi Rs,

Welcome to IMBB. 🙂 The review is written by HD, not by me.

SKin car products can be really tricky, they might work wonders for some and can go completely wrong for others. 🙂

Which range of products suit you the most?

    1. Hi Rati,
I know its tricky when it comes to skincare products. My skin is sensitive and quite dry.I have used many skincare products in the past like Lakme,Garnier,Himalaya,Johnson’s,Aromamagic etc. (the list is very long) but still haven’t found my HG skincare product.Garnier products don’t do wonders for my skin but they are somewhat okay.Same for Lakme also but I find Garnier better when it comes to skincare products.I used the Aromamagic moisturizer some time earlier. It was a nice one.I will probably buy a second bottle(your mini-haul post today reminded me to buy this.Probably I am myself to be blamed to a certain extent.I guess it takes time for the skincare products to show results and the results show only after a considerable period of usage.I have a short attention span so I keep changing my products.Anyway,I am very happy to join IMBB today and look forward to many more wonderful posts in the future

  5. Hey HD good review. If it wasnt for your review, I would not have even known whether such a sunscreen in spray form existed..thanx 🙂 …will surely stock this up 🙂

  6. hi HD,
u did it so soon.. wow 🙂 & thx alot 🙂 now im all set to buy the Lotus susnblock spray.the spray bottle is also v tempting.
U no i saw the same day b4 yesterday bt as i ws nt v sure abt its effectiveness ,, i left it there … i’ll rush today itself & let u no… 😀

    1. You are most welcome sush…you shud definately try this…the SAs at the beauty centre from where I bght this are pretty helpful and confident too while suggesting something and thats what made me buy this…

Do let me know how u find it

  7. I was expecting a transparent water like product , something similar to rose water. But the spray looks white in the pic. Do we have to massage it on after spraying or does it get absorbed into the skin ?

Does it give a matte finish like Lotus 3 in 1 sunscreen ?

    1. Hey Lavanya…yes it is a white cream but much more runny in consistency compared to other sunscreens…you need to massage it on your body parts after spraying..it doesnt get absorbed….I have not used Lotus 3 in 1 sunscreen so not sure what kind of matte finish you are talking abt but this one does not leave any sweaty feeling or any oiliness..

        1. Yes Ki…I use it on my face, arms and feet…..You Shud definately try this

Sorry for such a late reply….I somehow missed ur comment 🙂

  8. Hellow!
I second the opinion. Its a great sunscreen/block product.
Bought it seeing the spray and ease of use and the “50” given i was going to be roasted in the early summer sun of Apr at a camping site near Delhi. Been using it every single day ever since.
Agree with all of the “what I like”s

It works on me – definitely worth a try.

  9. Hi

I brought this as well because I thought it would be ‘a fine mist’ but its just cream in spray form. i have only used it on my legs and arms . It does not leave an oily finish but i prefer using the Lotus Matt Gel UV Screen. Have you tried it? i was looking for a review to see what other people thought about it. It has a totally dry finish and a nice cooling effect. I don’t like the feel of creams and I have dry skin.. which really does not help!!

Nice blog by the way!! Keep up the good work!!

  10. Hi,

As you have mentioned that you apply this on your body i would like to know can i apply this on my face .My skin tone is normal but while i am out for a long time it turns oily.I would also like to confirm that it is not oily and greasy.I have a dusky complexion so too much oily doesnt look good.waiting 4 ur reply and if you can also suggest a good night cream will be a great help.

    Thanks.

  11. Hi HD,

i wanted toknow that i use lotus spf 50, it is good and very light non greasy adn gives a clean face…but wnated to knwo is it sweat proof, becoz its not written and when i wipe my face all the cream comes on the tissue paper, so wnated to confirm.

    thanks

  12. I am a great fan of Lotus Herbals sunscreen. I ve been using it for more than five years. I keep on changing my make up products but never my sunscreen. I suggested it to two of my male friends. one has got complete cure from hypopigmented patch ( following shaving) over the chin and neck after one months use . They are the biggest fans to this product now.
for oily skin I suggest Lotus safe sun SPF 50 matte gel and Lotus safe sun SPF 20 sunscreen gel.

  13. Hey guys..I read all your reviews. My skin is oily and i have acne. So this Lotus Spray will work good on me? It wont be oily right? ?:)

  14. Hi HD,

Well written blog..pretty simple and easy to understand. Well I bought Lotus spray with SPF 50 since my sis started with her swimming classes. My dad warned about the side effects(skin cancer)so I was a bit sceptical about buying it. Somehow with a heavy heart bought it, now I was browsing through if sunblocks do cause cancer and in a website I read the contect oxybenzone causes it. I hurriedly checked the ingredients mentioned on the sunblock and yewww! Lotus spray does have that content.. :smug: :(( , I hope the shopkeeper exchanges it..but still contemplating if I should truly go for exchange..If so which one should I buy? also considering the fact that not many products come with such a broad spectrum !!! Confused

  15. HI, I have acne skin and oily too. I have started using Lotus products and first time in my life i have found some product that i will use forever in my life. Its awesome. I use lotus matte sunscreen spf 40 for my face and same spray spf 50 for my arms, legs and feet. It is wonderful.
