My Experience with Garnier Vitamin C Ambre Solaire Protection Lotion SPF 20:

During my trip to the Mediterranean cities, I forgot to carry a sunscreen lotion for my body. I had already packed a creamy one for my face, but I completely forgot to buy the lotion and I decided to buy one in Barcelona. I am happy that I forgot to pack one because I found a store that sells imported products at a real cheap price! In Netherlands, the same product costs €15.49 so I literally got it for half the price. Even though it is a Russian product, I am happy that I got for a good deal. A prize for my forgetfulness! Anyway, this is how I got this product.

Garnier Vitamin C Ambre Solaire Protection Lotion SPF 20 Packaging

The sunscreen, like most of the collections from Garnier Ambre Solaire, comes in a white and orange combination. The lotion comes in a white plastic bottle with a flip cap. The cap is tight enough and has a click so you can be assured that it is secured and there will be no leakage and thus it is travel-friendly. The lotion is white in colour and is runny. The smell is fresh and is a bit strong and is kind of floral-citrus. The fragrance is pleasant and I love it. The smell also stays for approx. 2-3 hours. The lotion, considering its runny texture, can be easily smeared on to the skin. The lotion gets absorbed quickly and doesn’t leave any white cast. But, once applied, it leaves a greasy residue and takes around a minute to get absorbed. Once it is absorbed then there is no greasy feeling or any residue and the skin looks moisturized and hydrated. The skin remains moisturized for 5-6 hours.

However, as it has a low SPF, you need to reapply the lotion every 1-2 hours. This can be a little bulky to carry in the bag. For moisturization, the product is a good one. Coming to its main job, the product protects mainly against UVA rays that are known to cause tanning, but it has a very little UVB rays protection that cause skin ageing. I did apply a generous amount every 1.5 hours during my days on the beaches. However, the effect was not great. I was tanned and the skin colour had drastic changes. My face with Garnier UV sport was lighter than my body. So the prevention of tan was very little. Luckily, I didn’t have any skin burns. It can protect you from mild rays but not the harsh beach rays. But, overall, a good moisturizing lotion with less protection against the sun.
