How to make “haathphool” at home in 5 minutes : diy

Hi friends!

Today’s post is a very simple DIY which I tried today and totally love the result. I was always fascinated by the concept of a haathphool. For those who don’t know what a haathphool is, it is a traditional hand ornament worn by women since time immemorial, which basically consists of a finger ring and a bracelet connected together with a chain. The chain can be as ornamental as you like.

My secret wish is to get myself a gold haathphool someday, but considering that I am still a student (and the sky rocketing price of gold of course!) that dream will have to remain a dream for still some years! 🙁 but recently, I got myself this huge ethnic ring from the local flea market and I felt like transforming it into a haathphool! I bought some loose golden beads from the local jewellery sellers and got to work. You will need the following things in order to make yourself one too.

1. A finger ring ( the larger the better)
2. A bracelet or bangle matching with the color of your ring ( mine was oxidized golden)
3. Beads( again this should complement the color of your ring and bangle)
4. Thread and needle

Step 1: take appropriate length of thread and needle it. Measure the length of your palm and cut out the thread, keeping in mind you would need some extra length to tie it up later.

Step 2: thread in the beads.

Step 3: take one end of the string of beads and tie it around the finger ring. Make sure the ring conceals the thread.

Step 4: take the other end and tie it around the bangle.

  11. when i was kid, i used to tie my gold chain with ring and bangle and made my own haathpool.. then my mom, grabbed everything since she thought i was playing with gold chain, ring and bangle..

    This post reminds me of that only 🙂 🙂

    1. hey porshia, i stay in shantiniketan, if u are frm west bengal, u will know that this plc is famous for local handmade jewellery 🙂 u can actually give ur own designs to the hawkers and they make u ur own custom made pieces. they also sell beads and stuff to u if u want to make them urself. 🙂 i usually keep a stock of these 🙂
