Winter is here and I am enjoying the subtle early morning chills here in Mumbai. I love winters, and looking and feeling warm at this time is not that difficult now as our market is piled up with some awesome products for this purpose. I am sure all you ladies love to shop for skincare and bodycare products before winters. This season gives us a nice chance to pamper ourselves. Okay, today for this season, I have a lovely product from L’occitane.
I am reviewing the L’occitane 5% Shea Butter Extra-Gentle Lotion for Hands and Body. A body lotion is must for winters and I was pretty bored of the regular TBS body butter (though I still own 2 tubs of them). The phrase “extra-gentle” drove me to this product and shea range from L’occitane is as it is very famous. So without even thinking for a second, I had to try this cutie.

My Experience with L’occitane 5% Shea Butter Extra-Gentle Lotion for Hands and Body:
Packaging:
The lotion comes in a simple transparent square shaped plastic bottle with deep blue/indigo coloured pump. The pump dispenser is a saviour as it has a twist lock facility, that manages to prevent wastage of product as well as keeps the lotion in a hygienic condition till the end. The packaging is spill proof and sturdy enough, however a little care should be taken during trips and tours.
Consistency and Smell:
The lotion is milky white and semi-runny in consistency. The texture is quite light-weight and smooth. The fragrance is the signature Shea range smell of L’occitane. The soothing smell, the awesome milky texture and soft touch of this lotion surely get a thumbs up from my side.
Results:
I hate stickiness of body lotions. Though I fancy my lotions and butters and also buy them, I usually don’t use them much! But during winters, I have to do so as my skin tends to become dry. This lotion being smooth and soft milky textured, spreads easily onto my skin. One swipe and I am done, my skin drinks up all this milk and becomes soft, smooth and plump.
The smell stays on for like say 3-4 hours after application which is really good. One application keeps me hydrated for say 6 hours with which I am happy. My skin still remains smooth after this, however at night I need to apply this again as my skin sometimes becomes dry in air conditioner. It is an average product but I love the way it calms my irritated, dry skin. I stay in Mumbai where winters are not that chilly, so this lotion works pretty well over here. However, I am not sure about its performance in extremely chilly or colder climates.

• Not suitable for extreme cold climates

No I may not repurchase this as I cannot stick to the same product for long. But I would recommend this product to all the L’occitane lovers.
Conclusion:
L’occitane 5% Shea Butter Extra-Gentle Lotion for Hands and Body is a wonderfully soothing and calming lotion for dry-sensitive skin. It does provide adequate hydration and nourishment. However, I cannot claim that it is the best among its kind!
