Lush Ayesha Fresh Face Mask Review

Lush Ayesha Fresh Face Mask Review

Hi friends …. Though I mostly do not hesitate to try any creams or serums, but in-case of face mask I am a bit choosy. Why should I pick up something, which though designed to pamper my skin from all the environment conditions, but is in itself happens to be loaded with preservatives? But the story with Lush is different….Lush marks itself on fresh handmade products 🙂 So here is a review on Lush Ayesha Fresh Face Mask, which I had picked up.

Lush Ayesha Fresh Face mask

Packaging:

Lush Ayesha mask comes in a simple black recycled plastic tub. You may have to dip your fingers to take the mask out or alternatively use a spoon. The mask is greyish in color with little scrub particles thrown into it also. The fragrance is extensively herbal and mud like, which can be attributed to its multani mitti content.

The mask is thick and is slightly difficult to spread on the face. So what I do is take a small amount and mix it with rose water. It becomes easier to spread the mask and another thing is that it would last me longer too. 🙂

Price

It is priced at $6.95 for 2.1 oz. (60 g.)

My Experience with Lush Ayesha Fresh Face Mask.

Once I apply the mask the drying time for the mask is around 15 minutes. After washing off the mask, my face feels a bit dry as with any clay mask due to my dry skin. However, it does not feel like that I need to immediately reach out for a moisturizer. My face feels very clean and fresh. There is no immediate glow but skin feels smooth.

I have used this mask couple of times and I find that with continuous use my skin tone feels better. There is no radical change in skin texture, but I feel that all the dead upper layers of the skin are removed. The mild scrubs in the mask add a good scrubby element to the mask. For the holidays I had been out a lot in the sun and I have got fairly tanned. I have been using this mask and I feel that it provides mild skin lightening.

Lush Ayesha Fresh Face mask

It is a fairly gentle mask with great ingredient list of kiwi, honey and asparagus. It also contains patchouli oil, rosemary and rose absolute oil. Since all the ingredients are very nourishing they have a soothing effect on the skin while the mask is on. It is like a mini spa at home. The fact that it is named after a fictional priestess who supposedly discovered immortality adds to its allure. 🙂

However the point to note with Lush masks is that they are made with fresh products and do not have any preservatives. So the shelf life is very small at max of 4 weeks. So I keep it refrigerated at all times and just take the amount I want to use.

Lush Ayesha Fresh Face mask

I had once bought Lush Brazened Honey mask and it was past its expiry date. I thought since the mask was always refrigerated it would be still good to use. I had a huge allergy reaction after using the mask and it took almost 2 months for my face to completely heal. So from my experience I can tell you that if you are using Lush mask please throw it away if it is past its expired date. Your face is more important than saving bucks on the amount left of the mask.

Pros of Lush Ayesha Fresh Face Mask:

  • Good clay mask, which is made from fresh ingredients of kiwi, honey along with fuller’s earth and essential oils.
  • Removes dead skin cells and has very nourishing quality.
  • Skin texture feels good with usage of mask.
  • Drying time for mask is less and easy to wash off.
  • Is little drying for dry skin, however does not require almost immediate moisturization.
  • Packaging is simple and travel friendly.
  • Provides a mini spa effect on the skin for some time.
  • Can also be used as gentle scrub on the face.

Cons of Lush Ayesha Fresh Face Mask:

  • Not a very pleasant smelling mask.
  • Has tiny scrubs in the pack so if you have sensitive skin please watch out.
  • Has a limited shelf life within which it should be used.

IMBB Rating:

4 out of 5. The -1 is for the very short shelf life.

Would I repurchase Lush Ayesha Fresh Face Mask?

Yes I would buy this mask again and would recommend it too. However Lush has many other fresh masks in its collection, so I am going to try out all of them. 🙂

  1. We do not get Lush here anymore, that’s very sad coz I love the aqua marina cleanser 🙂 Nice review Alaka, good one 🙂

  2. Ohhh dear… Clay masks dont suit my dry skin at all… And shelf life is just 4 wks… Btw… How many applications do you get from one tub… I may check out some other lush mask for dry skin… I love it that these r so natural… Superb review dear

    1. Thank you for reading Arpita !!

With one tub I get around 7 – 9 applications and that too I generally mix it with rose water to make it more thinner and last more too 😀

  3. Great review Alaka. This one you have to give and take. Love the all natural ingredients but, the shelf-life can be a bummer :/

    1. You are right Anubhuti….we have to be very sincere to make sure to use this mask within its shelf life …..and look at the bright side….it improves your skin with more frequent use 😀
