Neutrogena Oil – Free Acne Wash Redness Soothing Cleanser Review

Neutrogena Oil – free acne wash redness soothing cleanser

Hi again everyone! As I had mentioned earlier, I keep experimenting with facial cleansers. Since I have oily skin, I have tried all the possible face washes. This led me into conclusion that a very few of these face cleansers actually suit me. For instance, Lakme face cleansers were a total disaster to my skin whereas Neutrogena, Lotus, Everyouth and recently Himalaya are working fine for me. Everyone knows to keep our skin clean of oil, dirt and residual make-up in order to avoid formation of blackheads, comedones and breakouts. Earlier back, I had tried using Neutrogena skin –care products which I guarantee are quite amazing. However, I have not yet tried using their makeup products. Anyhow, coming back to our review, I got this Neutrogena’s Oil free acne wash facial cleanser from my visit to the beauty center store nearby my place. You won’t find this face wash in our normal drugstores or departmental stores. I guess that beauty center store keep imported beauty products sometimes (because I have seen many Marks and Spencer’s beauty products which I have not seen here, in addition to that they have this Boots product’s sometimes… anyways !!! So I kinda got lucky that day (I guess!!!). OK enough!! Let’s come to the point —

PRICE: 500 rupees (MOM HAD KILLED ME FOR DIS ONE :))

QUANTITY:

This face wash or I must say almost all Neutrogena skin care products come with this tag of using “MICROCLEAR TECHNOLOGY”. Basically this tag is used by Neutrogena for all the products that contain 10% benzoyl peroxide. This supposedly helps breaks down oil and benzoyl peroxide acts as a peeling agent, increasing skin turnover and clearing pores.

As we can see this facial cleanser comes in a transparent bottle. The product is dispensed through a pump which makes this facial cleanser difficult to carry in case if we are travelling somewhere ( 🙁 I can’t carry this one in ma purse). There are two kinds of these cleansers ( at least I saw only two kinds of these) –

  • Oil-Free Acne Wash Redness Soothing Facial Cleanser (which has clear green colored gel)
  • Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Facial Cleanser.

I experimented with the redness soothing facial cleanser because everytime I washed my face I kept on having this “strawberry nose” (DONT LAUGH OKI !) all the comedones and breakouts turn “Red” I DUNNO WHY ???? So I thought of experimenting with this facial cleanser .

WHAT THE PRODUCT CLAIMS:
With naturally soothing aloe and chamomile, Oil-Free Acne Wash Redness Soothing Facial Cleanser powerfully clears away breakouts and blackheads without over-drying and visibly reduces redness caused by acne. This unique foaming cleanser calms irritation so your skin looks and feels clearer and healthier.

  • Powerfully clears breakouts with Salicylic Acid
  • Visibly reduces redness and irritation
  • Microclear® technology
  • Contains 100% naturally-derived aloe and chamomile.

MY VERDICT:
Product smells good because of aloe and chamomile. But the packaging is a MAJOR issue because this product comes with a dispenser pump which makes it very difficult to carry it in case if we heading for some sleepovers at friends place or travelling somewhere. You can some of gel going to waste and also I m afraid what if the bottle bursts open in my bag!!!! (This happens to me ALL THE TIME) 🙁
Also again, this face wash definitely makes your face feel impeccably clean after using it. It also does not leave your skin feeling dry and stretchy. Now, the main reason I got this face wash was to experiment against the claim that this product was making about clearing away breakouts and blackheads and also visibly reducing the redness caused by irritation of the skin. After using it for such a long time, I STILL got comedones and pimples. Also it did reduce the redness to a certain extent but I must say the claims that they are making are just MARKETING STRATEGY (hehehe at least for me!!). It did not prevent breakouts completely. I still got them. However, I observed that my whiteheads and blackhead formation had reduced. This suggests that the product might be effective in clearing the pores of the face. I must stress on the fact that IT DOES NOT clear your EXISTING pimples – DISSAPPOINTING!!!! I had my hopes pinned up on this product . . . OVERALL I would rate this product 5 out of 10 … would definitely not buy it again!! 🙁 It would work well for mild to moderate acne and since it doesn’t over dry your skin the product cleans your face quite nice. Awww!! Well so much for MICROCLEAR TECHNOLOGY HUH !! …. marketing gimmick !!! 🙁
