Oriflame Optimals White Mattifying Lotion with SPF 15

oriflame optimals white mattifying lotion

Since summers and sweats are already here, I had to put my favourite Oriflame’s Mulberry lotion in cold storage and start searching for oil-absorbing formulas. In Oriflame’s catalogue, I found three options, the first one was the newly introduced Matte Touch Day Gel Cream (Rs. 549) and the other one was White Mattifying Lotion with SPECIAL ANTI-SHINE AGENT, and the third one was the Pure Skin Shine Control Cream. Out of the three choices, I chose White Mattifying Lotion because it also had SPF 15 and I am glad I did so, here’s why.

What the Catalogue Says About Oriflame Optimals White Mattifying Lotion with SPF 15

Matte finish face lotion specially formulated for oily skin enriched with optimal skin lightening technology and specially chosen natural ingredients. An anti-shine agent absorbs excess sebum.

Price: Rs. 549 but in this month’s catalogue, its on offer at Rs. 449.

Complete Ingredient List

My Take on Oriflame Optimals White Mattifying Lotion with SPF 15:

This ointment-y lotion comes in a white tube with a flip open cap and it is slightly runny in consistency.  While looking at the ingredients, I found out that it has my favourite mulberry extract (morus bombycis extract).  Fragrance wise, Oriflame Optimals White Mattifying Lotion is slightly on the ointmenty side.  I had to be a little careful with the flip cap because there is a chance that sometimes I get more quantity in my hand and only about a pea size is what is required for the entire face.  It takes a little bit of time for the lotion to get absorbed into the skin, but once it does, it smoothens the dry areas of the face and gives a well-hydrated look, but nothing greasy.  I could wear it under the regular foundation and it did not feel heavy.  Also, I could wear it alone or along with a compact and it kept my face grease and shine free for a good 3 to 4 hours without touch ups.  But, looking at the tube, I feel it is a little less quantity for the price that I paid.  Nevertheless, it is working fine for me and I do hope it lasts me through the entire summer season (wishful thinking!!!!).

Before and after blending.

Regarding the “white” in the cream’s name, I have stopped looking for whitening/brightening effects…. :smug:

Key Ingredients in Oriflame Optimals White Mattifying Lotion with SPF 15:

Morus Bombycis (Mulberry Extract)
mulberries
Morus Bombycis is an extract found in mulberries that is often used in cosmetics due to the presence of arbutin, a hydroquinone derivative isolated from the leaves of the bearberry shrub, cranberry, blueberry, some mushrooms, and most types of pears. Thanks to Morus Bombycis’ arbutin properties, it can potentially prevent melanin production, therefore naturally lightening skin and creating a more youthful appearance (Source). Morus Bombycis is also high in antioxidants,

Scutellaria Baicalensis (Baical Skullcap)

baical skullcap
Baical herbal remedies are also used as applications on the skin, and remedies based on the baical skullcap are used to treats all kinds of sores, to treat swelling, and in the treatment of boils and other topical disorders. Extensive use of the baical skullcap is now also suggested to treat all kinds of allergic conditions, with the evidence from recent research. Thus this remedy is suggested for use in the treatment of conditions like asthma, conditions such as hay fever, skin disorders such as eczema, and in the treatment of nettle rash.

Glycyrrhiza glabra (Liquorice)

Glycyrrhiza glabra is used extensively in cosmetics as a skin whitening and brightening agent.

Pros of Oriflame Optimals White Mattifying Lotion with SPF 15

• Contains mulberry extract, Scutellaria baicalensis, and liquorice.
• Keeps the face shine free for a good 3 to 4 hours.
• Can be worn under foundation without weighing down on the skin.
• Noncomedogenic, does not clog pores.
• Can be worn alone or can be coupled with a compact for a neat look.
• Contains SPF 15.

Cons of Oriflame Optimals White Mattifying Lotion with SPF 15

• Looking at the tube, I feel they could have given more of the lotion, it just looks a little less for the price.
• Price of Rs. 549 if not on offer.
• Ointmenty smell, does not bother me much, but some people may not like it.

IMBB Star Rating: 3/5. -1 for less quantity and another -1 for the price.

Will I Repurchase it Again: If this tube does not last till the end of May, yes, I will have to, and I think most probably, I will have to get a second tube.

You are so kind.
You are so generous.
Oh is that your feet, they are not uglier than mine.
Oh curly and messy hair is in fashion nowadays, your hair is so much trendy.
Short people are always happy, is that why you are short.
You spread so much laughter and happiness when you are around…..can you lower your volume….contribute in reducing noise pollution.

Rads ji…I meant ki……I didn’t see any whitening effect….nor I am looking for one…..if my face is oil-free……its enough to make me appear bright……oil considerably darkens my face…..it attracts dust, grime, and make the face dull……..I know mattifying by the special anti-shine is working to keep the face matte, but matte face is all i want O:) O:) O:) O:) O:) O:)
