Today, I’ll be reviewing the salicylic acid anti-blemish purifying cleansing wash from the Super facialist brand by Una Brennan. I have tried and reviewed products from this brand before (Vitamin C Brighten Skin, Rose Hydrate Cleanser), but this is the first product that I will be reviewing from this specific range. The salicylic acid range is designed for blemished skin, so it suits my skin type. There are three products within this range including the anti blemish facial scrub, anti blemish clay skin mask and the anti blemish purifying cleansing wash (which I will be reviewing today).

My Experience with Super Facialist by Una Brennan Salicylic Acid Anti Blemish Purifying Cleansing Wash:
I normally don’t try gel cleansers because I’ve never really fared well with them. However, I am pleasantly surprised to say that I did like this cleanser. The consistency of this cleanser is that of a thick gel and it does foam but ever so slightly and it doesn’t feel soapy on the skin, but almost creamy in consistency when it foams up. If you had read my review of “Yes To Tomatoes Clarifying Cleanser”), you would know that I disliked the foaming property of that cleanser, but this cleanser is thankfully not as foamy as that. I think that this is due to the fact that this doesn’t contain any sodium laureth sulphate (SLES), which is what gives beauty products foaming properties. SLES is also what strips the skin of its natural oils and therefore causes the skin to produce more oil to compensate for loss of oil. As a result, this will cause irritation and can also lead to more breakouts. As this product doesn’t contain any SLES, it does make my skin feel a little dry after use, it wasn’t severe and my skin does feel a lot cleaner and smoother.
I like to apply this cleanser onto dry skin, massage it in thoroughly and then remove it using a damp face cloth and this leaves it feeling so much fresher. I think the cleanser did help with breakouts, as my skin seemed to react well because of the salicylic acid, which is a great ingredient for acne-prone skin and will help combat spots. Not much product is needed for the full face, which means that this cleanser will last a while. I also really like the scent; it smells quite sweet and floral and I think this is due to the elderflower extracts. This product also contains a number of oils such as bitter orange, ylang ylang and sweet orange peel oil, all which are great for the skin and contribute to the pleasant scent.
As for the price, products from the Super Facialist brand tend to be slightly more expensive compared to other drugstore brands, however, it is definitely worth the money.

- Contains salicylic acid, great for acne-prone skin.

- Leaves skin feeling slightly dry.
- More expensive compared to other drugstore brands.
Would I Repurchase Super Facialist by Una Brennan Salicylic Acid Anti Blemish Purifying Cleansing Wash?
No, only because there are other cleansers that I personally prefer to this gel cleanser.

I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanser, considering the fact that I’m normally not a fan of gel cleansers. I wouldn’t repurchase this only because I prefer creamy cleansers but there is nothing wrong with this cleanser, definitely give it a try if you like gel cleansers. Since this did leave my skin feeling a little dry, I think those with dry skin should perhaps give it a miss but if you have super oily skin, I think it would suit you better. Overall, the super facialist brand is one that I trust and all the products I’ve tried so far have always been of great quality. I hope you enjoyed my review and I will be back soon with another one!
