4 steps for a glamorous, long lasting look for your lips
We all love our lipsticks, glosses and lip balms, but there are certain things you should always keep in mind for your lips to stay soft, smooth and healthy. These tips will help you master that perfect pout so that you’re always ready to step out in confidence.

Here are 5 ways you can take care of your lips –
1. Dry lips never look good. Let’s face it, we’ve all had those days when you have flakey or painfully dry lips, and you wish you didn’t have to smile at people all day! To make sure you don’t have to go through this, keep lips well-hydrated and always apply a light coat of clear lip balm before you put on your lipstick. Blot gently and then apply lipstick. Look for balms that mention ‘moisturizing’ on the packaging. Nivea, The Body Shop and ChapStick are good picks.

2. Ever wondered how lipstick looks so perfectly done on celebs? The trick is lip liner. While applying lip liner above your natural lip contours can look tacky, try this trick. Use a neutral coloured lip liner, as close to your natural lip colour as possible. Now keep your mouth relaxed, and using short strokes, trace lightly just on the outside edges of your lips. Next, fill in your entire lips with the liner, using the side and not the pointy tip of the liner. This gives a natural base before you apply lipstick. You could even just top it off with clear gloss for light, glossy pigmentation.
3. Some of us are fond of matte while others love gloss, but you have to admit – a bit of shine always adds that extra to your lips and makes you look fresh. After you line and shade your lips with lip liner as explained in step 2 – use a high-shine lipstick or just a lipgloss over your lips, in the closest shade to the lip liner. Try Maybelline’s Wet Shine lipstick or MAC Lipglass.
4. One of the most frustrating things is when your favourite lipstick or gloss wears off too easily – just a couple of drinks later you find that it vanished, and you have to go for frequent touch ups. To make your lipstick last, try this trick – before lining your lips, dust them with translucent powder, using a puff. Just like we prime our eyelids before putting on eyeshadow, you can prime your lips before applying any colour to them. Next, after applying a matte lipstick, blot your lips with a tissue paper. Add one more, thin layer of pressed powder and finally apply the colour. This trick works very well for making lipstick last longer.

Thank you so much for the tips 🙂 Never knew that we have to actually use the lip liner to color the lips too before actually applying the lipstick 🙂 Will try this the next time. 🙂
I was browsing the other day for long lasting lip stains but unfortunately the really good ones aren’t available in India 🙁
Yeah, it’s a pretty good way to layer the colour on to let it seep in 🙂 just like we prime before using eyeshadows! I think TBS has lip stains, I saw them at the shop the other day, do try them!
