7 Alternatives to Conventional Beauty Products

By Apoorva Singh

Hello everyone,

Hope you all are doing great. We all are fond of makeup and would continue to do so. But, what will you do when you are running out of any of your favourite makeup product? So, in order to deal with such situations, I’m listing down a few things, which you can use as an alternative to your beauty products.

1. Vaseline as Mascara:

Use a petroleum jelly in place of mascara. Take a little amount of petroleum jelly on your finger tips and dab it on your clean eyelashes. Finally, tame your lashes with a mascara brush. It will give a nice glossy appearance to your eyelashes.

Tips:

– Don’t wear glasses after using Vaseline as it will leave some spots on your glasses.
– Vaseline tends to attract more dust particles. So, make sure you remove it properly before hitting the bed.

2. Kajal as an Eyeliner:

Use a kajal pencil as an alternative to your eyeliner. For the kajal to glide smoothly on the eyelids, try this trick. Close the kajal with its lid and blow dry it for 10 seconds. This makes your kajal pencil really soft and smooth to apply. This trick also makes your kajal more pigmented, which will be perfect to use as an eyeliner.

3. Lipstick as a Blush:

As an alternative to your blush, you can use your favourite lipstick. The lipstick shade entirely depends on the shade of blush you want on your cheeks. If you want a light pink shade then, opt for a slightly darker shade. Take a little amount of the lipstick on your ring finger and dab it all over your cheeks and then, blend it nicely using a brush. At last, apply some loose powder or compact powder for that perfect air-brushed finish. Using a compact powder helps in lightening the shade if you have gone over the top with your blush application.

4. Highlight with a Lip Balm:

Use a lip balm on the portions of your face where you want to highlight. Before using a lip balm, make sure that it should not be highly tinted. A non-tinted or very less tinted lip balm is most suitable to use as a highlighter.

5. Aloe Vera Gel as a Primer:

It is an essential step for achieving a perfect makeup look. As an alternative to your primer, use some aloe vera gel. It will not only moisturise your skin but also prevents it from sweating after makeup application. Another alternative is using a calamine lotion. It works best for oily skin.

6. BB Cream as a Concealer:

Basically, a concealer is used to hide the imperfections on your skin thereby, giving you a flawless coverage. For this purpose, a good BB cream can also be used. You can apply it in the same way as you apply your concealer along with the foundation.

7. Coconut oil as a Makeup Remover:

Many of you will already know this, but for those who didn’t, you can use coconut oil or some petroleum jelly to wipe off your makeup. Take a few drops of coconut oil on your palm and gently massage it on your face. With the help of a facial tissue or cotton ball, start wiping off the makeup from your eyes and then, from the entire face. Coconut oil will not only remove your makeup completely but, also moisturises your skin really well.
