My Experience with NYX Macaron Butter Lip Balm:

Packaging: The packaging of this lip balm is definitely cute and practical. The balm comes in a usual twist-up mechanism container as most other lip balms and the tube is colour coded to the color of the lip balm. The cap shuts with a secure click sound which is a big yay for a product that you want to throw in your purse on the go.

Color and Pigmentation:  The color payoff is fairly sheer but you can still get a nice hint of color. Macaron, is a light n*de shade with orange warm undertones with a ton of shimmer! Why NYX, Why?? It did not show up well on my lips, but still gave them a fair flush of a beautiful tint, but with a ton of shimmers. I think they swatch considerably less pigmented than they actually appear on the lips.

Texture: This is lightly hydrating with a thin, balmy consistency that wears comfortably on the lips. It feels very lightweight, smooth and slick as you’re applying and feels nice on the lips at first. The texture is not too creamy to slide off the lips, but just perfect! This balm applies very smoothly and I’d say the texture is very close to Maybelline Baby Lips formula, but a bit thinner with a slight sheen finish.

Smell: The smell of this lip balm is sweet and fruity. The flavour is pretty light and subtle yet tastes sweet which I appreciate as I hate lip balms that smell and taste horrible.

Longevity: I wouldn’t say I got four hours of moisture from this balm, but I wouldn’t say it isn’t hydrating either. The moisture factor is pretty light here so if you have super dry lips, it might not be an ideal pick for you if you’re depending on them for long-term hydration and moisture retention. I wouldn’t say that it actually dries out my lips, but it just doesn’t leave a lasting moisturizing effect. Compared to the Maybelline Baby Lips, I think that this one is less hydrating.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase NYX Macaron Butter Lip Balm?
I tend to reapply lip balm throughout the day because I have dry lips and also because I am kind of lazy at reapplying my lipstick once it wears off. So, I like to keep a tinted balm handy to give my lips a little hydration as well as color which is one reason these lip balms from NYX can come in handy. If you are someone like me, you’ll definitely enjoy this cute little lip balm, but but only if you can handle the shimmers!!
