While I always look for matte and non-greasy sunscreens, I was on the lookout for a thick sunscreen cream with high SPF during my US stay. My skin had turned dry and flaky and simply would itch and would sunburns easily. I switched from Lotus Herbals 3 in 1 Daily Matte Look Sunblock SPF 40 to this sunscreen from Alba Botanica, but couldn’t continue with it. Read on to know why!

My Experience with Alba Botanica Soothing Sunscreen Pure Lavender Lotion SPF 45:
The packaging is pretty decent. It comes in a cute lavender-colored chubby tube with a flip open cap. It is made of sturdy plastic and the hole is of the right size to squeeze needed quantity. It is travel friendly, but it might not be the best one for hand baggage as it crosses 100 ml. All product details including inactive ingredients and warnings, are written on the tube.
The texture is creamy and thick. I was very impressed with the truly emollient texture, which glides and spreads into skin easily. It would feel greasy as a facial sunscreen. It would have been a treat for dry skin in winters as it nourishes skin; only had it not stung and irritated eyes so badly. Like within two minutes of application, my eyes turn red and started watering badly. It took hours to soothe my eyes. I also gave it to my mom, who literally screamed at me for subjecting her to this torture.
It is rather a good one for hands and feet, especially in winters. If you have dry skin, which becomes flaky and itchy, you can try this. It soothes skin, reduces inflammation and sunburns. The effects and moisturization last long. It has a very strong smell, something between lavender and tea tree oils. Very bothersome for sensitive noses.
I am surprised that a product which is free from so many chemicals irritates my eyes so badly! Very disappointed.
