Today, I am reviewing a lotion from one of my favorite brands – Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion 10% Glycolic acid.
This age-defying lotion contains 10% alpha-hydroxy acid, which removes dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, allowing the antioxidant vitamins and hydro-emollients to smooth, firm, and nourishes the healthy skin that lies beneath.
How To Use:
Cleanse thoroughly. Pat skin dry. Apply Alpha Hydrox AHA Enhanced Lotion on face and neck with fingertips. Follow with sunscreen.
12.99 USD (prices varies across different stores).
My Experience with Alpha Hydrox The Original Enhanced Lotion 10% Glycolic Acid:
Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) are naturally-occurring acids derived from food products such as fruit, milk and nuts. One of the key ingredients in this product is glycolic acid which is derived from sugarcane. AHA has two primary uses – one is to increase the water content in the skin and other is to exfoliate. It removes the outer layer of dead skin cells.
Benefits of AHA:
- Smooths and evens out skin texture.
- Reduces the appearance of fine lines.
- Since AHA is a humectant, keeps skin moist.
After hearing (reading) all good things, I bought the product. I was suffering from severe acne. I was skeptical but decided to give this a try. In the description, it says to use it both in the morning and at night, but I used it only at night followed by a heavy moisturizer. The product comes in the form of white cream which is very thin and the bottle comes with a lot of product. The bottle will last me for more than six months. I didn’t detect any fragrance which is a good thing. My nose is very sensitive to smells. I dislike when cosmetic companies try to come up with skin care products with fragrance.
When you initially apply, it tingles a little for a few seconds, it’s not a burning sensation. There is a warning on the product to do a patch test for a few days. But after a few days, you don’t feel the tingling sensation anymore. I guess your skin gets adjusted to the product.
I have all good things to say about this product. After using it for a week, I noticed that my skin has become smooth. After a month of using it, I started to notice a difference. Now my face is clear of acne. Uneven skin texture has been clearing out. I don’t have fine lines as of now, so I can’t really tell if the product reduces the appearance of fine lines. One down side to this product is your skin becomes sensitive to sun exposure. Always follow up with a sunscreen.
Pros of Alpha Hydrox The Original Enhanced Lotion 10% Glycolic Acid:
- Skin feels nice and soft.
- Evens out the skin.
- Helps clear acne.
- Travel-friendly packaging.
Cons of Alpha Hydrox The Original Enhanced Lotion 10% Glycolic Acid:
- Tingles a bit in the beginning.
- Makes skin sensitive to sun exposure.
- May not be available in India.
Would I Repurchase Alpha Hydrox The Original Enhanced Lotion 10% Glycolic Acid?
Yes, I am very impressed with this product.
After using Alpha Hydrox Enhanced Lotion 10% glycolic acid, I have to say I love it. This product gives me a nice, soft, and healthy-looking skin. I highly recommend it since it’s easily affordable and gives those expensive creams a run for their money.
